164.3000 NFM heard a ground station talking to a HELO, the transmissions were very brief so I couldn't make out much of what was said. This was today around 1640 hours in the mobile in Gautier. Signal was weak but readable too.

That one is the USCG's CG 114 channel. Best I can tell it's used for some aspect of aircraft maintenance at the USCG airfield in Mobile.

P25 or Analog? any tone or NAC?

Probably USCG NET-114 if P25 and NAC $293

However, folks have reported Analog 100.0 Hz for the BATFE or Customs less than 2 yrs ago

K, so it's not the CG-xxx P25 channels

Those legacy Analog are still in-use for the Air Stations.

Up here in New England, Air Station Cape Cod still uses
164.5500 No PL and 166.2250 No PL for Air to Ground Ops at the Station

It's analog CSQ.

Ah ok so it has to be P25 to be in the CG-### naming scheme then? I've never heard it referred to by name and just assumed it would be named that from the wiki article. Like you mentioned about Cape Cod it seems to always be A2G and always about some aspect of work/repairs that the aircraft in question needs.

Correct, many of those analog channels were around before the Narrowband P25 conversion, and are still likely Wideband themselves. :D

NFM = NARROW FREQUENCY MODULATION. Not P25. I don't scan for pl tones in the mobile because it's too time consuming while driving. I just happen to be doing a search from 161 to 173 mhz and could hear a ground station having a conversation with a HELO, it was apparent because you could hear the inflection in his voice from the turbine/rotors. Pretty good signal too, btw this was received on a 1/2 wave 800mhz mobile antenna.

Just to be clear, P25 is FM as well and for many Federal Agencies have moved to NFM , hence the need to clarify.

Okay well anytime I say FM or NFM I'm referring to an analog transmission. If it's an IMBE transmission I'll simply label it P25.

The transmission on 164.3000 was analog FM of a ground station and a HELO. I would find it hard to believe either were in Mobile based on the signal.

Hard to believe I'm decoding MSWIN site Ellisville SE from 76 miles away too, but I am. :D

166.7125 - Voice paging. Finally nailed this one today. It's in use by the Biloxi VA center for voice paging. Thanks to "Rapid response, building 1, 2nd floor, Starbucks." :D

167.2375 and 167.6125 both 167 NAC recently active around the coast. In the clear traffic heard on both but nothing much of any significance

Some pretty significant busts around here recently too.

USM/FBI/Jackson County Narcotics Task Force nabbed this one Monday night. I heard the call go out on the Jackson County TRS Narc channel asking for units that wanted to go along with USM/FBI agents for the bust. :D

411.175 - 156 NAC - Hearing a very weak signal on this one in JC just now. What little that is coming through appears to be in the clear.
