1612- Nomad 41 (C-130T # 164442 AE03D2 VR-62 "Nomads" NAS Jacksonville FL) working ADW CP (378.1) for landing. Asking about time for ramp freeze.
Typo should be 164441? The VR-62 Nomads getting to be regulars up this way.
BTW what ever happened to the VR-52 Taskmasters at Willow Grove/McGuire with their DC-9 planes?
Assume they disbanded when the DC-9 was retired around 2013 from Naval service in lieu of B738's.
Can never find any final word on that unit.

Looks good, Oceana also has 5R/23L and is the preferred runway!

Terry
Mark,
I thought VR-52 was still operating out of McGuire. They use the BD### tail code & Condor callsigns.
Thanks Terry, maybe someday when the Navy gets more B738's they will resurrect VR-52.
Seems the Navy 738's now are very busy all over the place.. Need more.
Ron VR-64 is still there at McGuire the Condors. They came over from WG at same time.
Earlier today RCH893T coming North near Richmond Va tried Andrews on 141.550 no joy.
Guess they gave it a whirl from the old book. I was surprised to hear that call..

A Jolly Roger F-14A Tomcat... Scramble says as of 2010 up at Great Lakes on display.
Flew way back in time 1980 on board the Nimitz. "Splash the Zeroes" :)JollyRoger2.jpg.JPG

Wiki says most of that movie aerial scenes The Final Countdown was filmed at NAS Norfolk and NAS Key West and Florida keys.. never knew
that.
"The difficulties in filming a modern jet fighter were soon apparent when the first setup to record an F-14 takeoff at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, resulted in both camera and operator being pitched down a runway"
