Does anyone know if the Thunderbirds left KAVP today? I was checking on them all day on Flightaware and when I went by the airport around 6:30 I didn't see them there. Maybe they tucked them into a hanger?

We were there on Thursday when they came in. The timing was perfect to see them then right after Thbrd14 came in and parked right in front of us. As the ground crew came out they gave my so an amazing pin.

They are permitted to have them in their radios - they are communicating with both civil (121.5) aircraft and military (243.0) aircraft so having those frequencies loaded are probably good to have communication capabilities on. Just like Channel 16 Marine band....you cannot chat on them but they are good for emergency comms.
Anyone running an airshow should have those freqs available to tx on in case of an emergency or upon someone not authorized to enter the tfr. And Dave S. has the authority to operate on the UHF military freqs he and his team uses for air shows.

RCH186 heading north to Thule (BGTL).

RCH780 a KC-10 using a Reach callsign. At FL280 because of some equipment issue that doesn't allow them to enter RVSM airspace (as heard on ZBW).

RVSM requirements.....so one or more of the aircraft's units were probably not operational so they could not take advantage of RVSM airspace.

The following systems are required to be installed on aircraft to be approved to conduct RVSM operations:

· Two (2) independent altitude measurement systems (as defined in FAA Interim Guidance 91-RVSM, paragraph 8a),

· One (1) secondary surveillance radar (SSR) reporting transponder,

· One (1) altitude alerting system, and

· One (1) automatic altitude control system.

In addition, there is an operational requirement for certain systems to be operating at entry into airspace where RVSM is applied. They are: two (2) independent altitude measurement systems, one (1) altitude alert system, and one automatic altitude control system.

Spending the week down in Seaside Park - had a helo (N412DE) fly overhead along the beach traveling north earlier this afternoon, apparently he took off from ADW, rounded Sandy Hook, and landed at BLM. Just had him fly overhead again about an hour ago on his way back south.

Whats interesting about this, is that N412DE is registered to the DOE as an "Aerial Measuring System" aircraft of the NNSA...

Probably just a test/training flight of some sort? But never even knew this existed...

Can't confirm the validity, but FOX news just reported that our military are beginning to pull out of Kabul because of there may be immediate danger to them. One would hope that our military are trained for situations such as this.
>
According to the WH moments ago it's because they are preparing for the August 31 pull out date.

Noon remarks by POTUS have twice been pushed back today, as was a DOD briefing.
4:30 PM THE PRESIDENT delivers remarks on our ongoing efforts in Afghanistan
