1029- Hearing some Langley A/A 285.15 very strong, also Woodstown 363.0 FL390, missed callsign

1037- hearing them up here on 285.150, talking about KBTV and KGTB. I think I heard them say push 273.550.
1042- on ZBW 09 callsign sounds like SCOOP (?) 01, 1044- cleared into Viper All
1045- DEATH 11 flight also cleared into Viper All base to FL500
1052- F22s discussing plan, will wait for tanker, if they don't show at bingo will got to KGTB alternate KSYR.
1054- F22 says tally on B-2

1153- KINGFISH 1 calling HECKLER on Blue Common 254.200
1158- SHINER calling DEATH and SCOOP on 254.200

Anyone else in the Viper area hearing a beeping sound on 328.650 ? Sounds like maybe data (B-2s?) or just interference on my end ?

"Don't worry folks, it's just a freighter." ;)
Will be interesting to read the accident report.

It appears that the plane reported a left system hydraulic failure soon after takeoff. On the 757 the left system is the 'heavy' system with the flaps and landing gear. You have to do alternate flaps and gear extension and you land with flaps 20 instead of the normal 30 or 40 due to the reduced go-around climb gradient with the gear unable to retract once you put them down.

You should have normal wheel braking, thrust reverser on the right side only, don't use autobrakes, you'll deploy the speedbrake manually on landing. You don't have nosewheel steering so as the plane slows, you'll need to use a little differential braking to keep the plane on the runway before you stop and call for a tow to the ramp.

Landing a 757 on a dry runway with one thrust reverser should not be a problem, the plane is sometimes dispatched with a reverser inop.

The diagram below from an Australian air accident report has a typo in the right system reserve fluid label, it should be reserve brakes, not reverse brakes (not to be confused with normal, alternate or emergency brakes).

The 'don't worry folks' quip comes from an old story about a United plane taxiing past a burning cargo plane next to the runway at Stapleton airport in Denver. The captain made that reassuring PA announcement. Or, so the story goes...

In 1989 cargo airline Flying Tigers crashed a 747 on approach to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The three crewmembers did not survive. A local aviation official was quoted as saying 'Fortunately it was a freighter so there was no significant loss of life.'

Interesting tape today.. Where was Ron and everyone else?
After checking the tape the F22 callsign was probably COOP (not SCOOP). The EDDIEs were using 238.800 for A-A.
Checking my tape here after work and yes did sound like COOP. For a minute thought he was mispronouncing CUBE.
10:22 local COOP-1 at FL 390
10:53 local COOP-3 at FL390
10:57 SAVAGE at FL 390
12:11 COOP-2 with ZDC headed home I guess.

saying we are 10 minutes behind you on our way to Duluth. Guess they are picking up the Minnesota F-16's gear.
Two C-5M's are a lot of gear. They should turn some heads up in Duluth :)

BROLLY-1 E-3 #81-0004 working out in W-386 offshore now maybe with more Langley F-22's.
