I realize that several folks here follow the B-2s as they go up to the ranges in New York and off the coast of Nova Scotia.

I was listening to Ohio ANG KC-135 EDDIE 61 refueling B-2 DEATH 12 on 343.25. Among other topics, EDDIE mentioned that they 'own' AR-315 (mostly over Kentucky) and could do more of the refueling coming or going to those ranges.

In the clip below:

DEATH thanks EDDIE for joining up on short notice. The customary exchange of training requirements and other admin things is accomplished.
B-2 boom limits are explicitly recited for the benefit of the boom operator and a B-2 pilot being trained in the right seat. Yes, this was the outfit that did the Ohio State football game flyover last year (there aren't that many B-2 units ;)).

The chief of flight ops for the tankers is onboard the KC-135 and makes a pitch to get more of the B-2 refueling business to and from the range in New York. 'We own AR-315' he says.

The B-2 instructor pilot says he was former commander of the 'schoolhouse' (possibly head of B-2 training) and the B-2s can always use tanker work, call us if you get a no-show or reschedule on a receiver.

The boomer asks 'How big is the flight deck on the B-2?'

Just big enough to put down a camping pad or cot. But, your head will be next to the heater or the toilet. Not good for primadonnas like us the B-2 pilot jokes. Or, maybe he wasn't joking. :)

Good evening,

TREND 23/24 departed from Spangdahlem airbase this afternoon and joined with ROMA 75 (85-0030) out of RAF Mildenhall to McGuire AFB.
The 388th FW F-35s were air-to-air on <233.575> and working ATC with Maastricht radar on 314.600 and 398.025 on ALTRV Coronet East 080.

Will have a soundclip available within a few days ..... :)

Thanks for the heads up. I checked my tape and didn't hear any B-2s working the Fort Drum Range (R5201-2) today. Maybe they went out to one the Atlantic Warning Areas ?

In the morning and afternoon was a COLT 11 (x2) working the Range (JTAC BRUTAL 244.500 and 226.900), ID'd as A-10, presumably MDANG ? Must have stopped in KGTB for lunch and gas ? Also in the afternoon there was an MQ-9 APEX 01 working the range as well, at one point targeting what they said were T-72s.

I’ll have to check my recordings to see if they went East over Southern VA / NC towards the coastal warning areas.

Good E-4B article.. E-4B may be overall com/command plane but only the Navy E-6B from the air can carry out order for launches using the codes.
$500 Alex trivia question answer.. Presidents Carter and Ronald Reagan are the only two presidents who have publicly flown on the E-4B.
42 disparate communication systems and can work with FEMA as well for Hurricanes,Tornados etc.
Does America need its ‘Doomsday plane’? (armytimes.com)

STRATCOM exercise starting up, most comms on 11175 so far.

Net control = REST CAMP (HFGCS)
LATE 61 = TOMMY GUN (LANT TACAMO)
GORAL 51 = BOW LINE (CENT TACAMO)
SAPO 61 = NIGHT FALL (PAC TACAMO)
BEMUD 24 = ??? (CENT NAOC)

WEKA 64 is also airborne - not sure if they are a player.

DOOM 71/72 and ZAGS 96/97/98/99 heard as well.

One of the TACAMO pilots I used to work with told me that he had the codes accessible, so they could correct any errors prior to relaying the message.

Ah yes, yesterday COLT was IN ANG also. I think they returned home at the end of the day rather than staying overnight at GTB.
That's kind of old story with that COLT calling back to day the Baltimore Colts departed Baltimore in middle of the night for Indiana..Maryland ANG still uses COLT as well at times for the old Baltimore Colts :)
