Five VMMT-204 MCAS New River MV-22s arrived yesterday at Portland, Maine (KPWM) for an extended stay for training up here in the Northeast. Callsign is CROSSBOW 11 flight and A-A freq heard so far was 225.7 I will post more freqs when I hear or record them. A flight of three took off today around 4PM local doing a tour of ME, NH, VT, and are currently over Cape Cod. ADS-B Exchange - tracking thousands of aircraft

My son took some pictures and videos of them on the ramp. Here's an interesting one. The tail is black. Anyone know why? Commander's plane?

As a former C-130 guy, I couldn't help myself but to scoot to KIAD this afternoon to see the German Air Force's second Herk on its first operational mission (it's essentially a brand-new plane: first flight at Lockheed was on 7Apr22 and she began her journey to her joint French/German 130 unit on 23Jun). The instructor pilot I spoke with through the fence was incredibly professional and in love with this young bird -- she has less than 50 hours and this was her 9th flight overall. All the best to them!

That is interesting a joint French/GAF aircraft.. Who would have thought that 20 years ago.
Many are puzzled by the RAF to ditch their C-130's early to save money and roll only with the A-400M.
Maybe after recent events they may change their minds. British SAS sure likes the C-130.
Sometimes bigger isn't always better.
The RAF could soon retire the C-130J and replacing it with the A400M - A move that would put SAS soldiers at risk - The Aviation Geek Club

Black tail may of been a new special scheme in the midst of being done when the deployment came up.

SAM394 just NE of SPAR19 @0630L Eastern.

Interestingly, Secretary Blinken's plane did not go on the east side of the Philippines to avoid Chinese military units like Speaker Pelosi's aircraft did.

From the fuel stop in Yokota, Japan, SAM 394 took a fairly normal route from the Fukuoka FIR to the Manila FIR and then the Ho Chi Minh FIR inbound to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. His plane cruised right by the Paracel Islands claimed by Taiwan, Vietnam and China. I watched the Chinese build a massive military base on Woody Island in the Paracels as I flew over during the last two decades.

SPAR 20 takes off out of Okinawa and heads back to Anchorage with only a crew of eight onboard.

It apparently was used as a maintenance spare to cover SPAR 19's Taiwan trip. They loaded a flight plan from Okinawa to Taipei but it was never used.

I can relate to "new plane"...I picked up "my airplane" 93-1037 factory-fresh on October 13, 1994 and brought her to the 50th AS at Little Rock. She had 8.6 hours on her, and I only had 27 years on me! Saw her again on September 4th of last year at Dulles when she (now with the AFRES unit at Dobbins where she was made) was supporting Afghan resettlement operations. Still had the legacy four-bladed props...it will feel weird when she gets the 8-bladed NP2000 mod since those and the J models 6 blades have a whole new sound to "The Four Fans of Freedom".

What a ride!
