Couple of PETRO tankers headed West this morning for the Pacific.
PETRO-51 KC-135 #63-8026 from Utah
PETRO-61 KC-135 #57-1427 from McConnell.
Next Blue Angels airshow is in Oregon next weekend.

PETRO 51 is off Hono with a timing turn, possibly for the Blues to get in trail. Fat Albert off the at deck at Kāneʻohe as well.

1538- Exxon 1 (KC-46 # 16-46018) working Giantkiller (238.1) for entry into W386 at FL190-200

1549- Like Rich in PA earlier I'm hearing short xmissions on 242.75. Sounds like it might be a tanker. Maybe Exxon 1 in W386?

1603- Couple of Nighthawks working on discretes (143.825 & 273.95). One acft asked if they have the ATIS yet. Maybe running up to Wilmington?

1606- Bluetail (unid) working Green Dominion (239.025). advising that Apex 71 & unid acft are checking in for the exercise (??)

(Trying to get both the photo and this text to post properly. File may be too big.)

Six of these ANG C-17s live at the Martinsburg Airport, KMRB. They are visible across the field from near the small terminal (which has a very nice cafe with big windows) and from the nearby Army Reserve Center, which is near the end of runway 26. The aircraft come out to play generally in the late afternoon on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Around 7pm local on Tuesdays seems to be a good time.

You'll hear them call the 167th Airlift Wing CP ("Pikeside") on 297.9 as they start engines and a vehicle will check the runway for debris. Then they will shoot T&Gs or head off to practice terrain avoidance. Photo was taken from the parking lot of the Army National Guard Center using an iPhone.

I also heard MOOSE 42 but was not sure that callsign would be used by a B-52.

Logged MOOSE 42 here on his arrival to Loring last Thursday the 11th. Caught him again today on recordings at 1437z working UHF ZBW 346.4 then 282.2 as he was leaving Maine. Checked in at FL260 climbing to FL280.

MOOSE was the callsign for the Loring 42nd bomb wing BUFFs. Nice to see they brought it back for the occasion!

Between 1800 and 1900, heard on 386.800, supposed to be US Navy on Andrews, was "Ambulance en route", later was "How many ambulances going to the hospital", and later I think was said "Which ambulances to which hospitals."

Is this part of a trunked radio system and I'm only hearing part of the conversation? It was strong signal at 5th & H in the Northeast of DC.

20:08 on 121.500 was "I'll be coming in behind you." Then "There's a bunch of you tonight." Lastly, different aircraft stated "Yes there is...United 768."

A quick check of Flight Aware showed flight United 768 was Southeast of DC, flying Northeast at 35,000 feet, headed to Newark.

Strange to use 121.5 as air to air!

386.800 is also used as part of the United States Department of Defense (14C) system around the world
