I haven't been to an airshow in a couple of years...do they still have ladders at static-display aircraft so you can look into the cockpit? Or those you can get into? If yes, does anyone have pictures of frequency cards? Thanks!

There were air stairs, I toured a KC-10 early, kids were in the cockpit. I'd say the crowd was big. Way more than I could catch in a day, especially on foot.

WOW!

Andrews Ramp opens at 9am tomorrow for the Open House, and guess what will be happening a bit later.

This should be a treat to see.

10:10 AM THE PRESIDENT and THE FIRST LADY depart the White House en route Joint Base Andrews
South Lawn (Gather 10:00 AM – Palm Room Doors)
Open Press

10:30 AM THE PRESIDENT and THE FIRST LADY depart Joint Base Andrews en route London, United Kingdom
Joint Base Andrews
Out-of-Town Pool

Definitely no treat since his departure caused the base to close and buses were held outside the gate.

Digital cockpits have significantly diminished preset cards. You can still find them in most Navy helicopters and occasionally A-10 canopy rails, maybe the occasional KC-135 - not much else.

Seems the 193rd SOW at Harrisburg Pa has flown their last EC-130J (BATON) training flight.
Rare views from the backend of this unique C-130J. Note radio dial on their CP freq 395.100
DVIDS - Video - EC-130J Commando Solo Final Mission Flight (dvidshub.net)

They are going to transition over to the MC-130J Commando II type next.
That will be a cool aircraft type in our training area.. Don't catch many MC-130J types around here.

Most of the Spec Ops training missions are low level stuff so most of us will probably not be able to hear them. Hope they show up on ADS-B.

Wonder if they'll keep 395.1 as Ops freq?

Wonder if they'll keep 395.1 as Ops freq?

Questions:

1- Are they going to keep their Commando Solo acft and retro fit them for Spec Ops or will they get new acft?

2. Will they change their callsigns?

Anyone have any info?
