Anyone familiar with filing FOIA requests? I want to get copies of the ZID and ZOB SOP manual but I have never done a FOIA.

I have done it a few times. Was easy to do online. FAA FOIA Request Form. They charged me around $30.00 for each SOP I ordered. It took a few months before I received the info. (on a disk sent via snail mail). This was before Covid so I suspect it will take longer now. I plan to do the same to get the latest SOPs for ZBW, ZNY, ZDC.

Might not be related but ADS-B showing bunch of tankers, One Maine, one from Grissom IN and two from Pittsburgh all airborne and seem to be heading towards the same area over WVA.

Looks like a couple new KC-46's for delivery today from Boeing.
KANZA-86 #20-46075 off the deck eastbound from Boeing Field assume to McConnell.
There is a second one that is sitting there powered up #20-46076.

One of the AXEMAN is having fuel gauge problems on 271.400 so no emergency and
will land straight in on ZDC 290.475 going to tower.

Which ARTCCs did you already do? Assume it came in handy to verify sector frequencies.

I've got all the ARTCCs SOPs covering the eastern half of the USA, plus Boston, New York and Potomac TRACONs. All were sent on disk except for ZOB and ZID were they sent me a printed hard copy. It's been close to 10 years now so they are starting to get a bit dated. They all use different formats and some are better than others but overall a very good source to verify sectors and frequencies and the various sector configurations. Except for the ZMP copy were they redacted that info. for some reason. At the time I did send in the updated info. to Radio Reference to update their database. Radio Reference ARTCC Database.

That's insane (to me at least), using aggressors to perform air defense on any kind of routine basis.

I agree that using F-22's all of the time for it is a waste of resources (F-15s are a better fit)..., but aggressors?

Yes, I get that it is a secondary mission, but (as a comparison) Luke AFB fighter instructors and F-16's could be used for air defense as a secondary mission (at least in the past), in reality, if it has to be done though, things are worse than they appear.

I understand the reasoning, but it smells like scrapping the bottom of the barrel, and just concerns me.

Thanks
Joel
