That REACH 5004 (C-5B, 85-0004, 436th AW Dover) passed his message once to Pope and then lost contact with them. He switched to the other CP freq - 257.1 - tried there also with no luck and then returned to the 381.3 freq

REACH 1710 reported departing KHST (Homestead AFB FL) at 2128Z. His CT with TEAM 55 will be 0022Z - both items as reported to McGuire CP on 319.4.

1943: DECEE 92 Heavy (KC-135R, 62-3528, 756th ARS Andrews) w/ADW Tower for landing. He's been working out on the west coast around the McChord area since this past Monday...118.4

Thanks Alan,I missed the S in that KHST message.Looked up KHAT.. DOH!
Got so busy all at once..
1710 maybe down there helping the 93rd FS move North or practicing AR's with KC-10 and F-16's.
Those Homestead guys probably don't get much KC-10 work.
Bulgaria? Maybe they will get some down time in Germany or Italy perhaps on this deployment.

2305 REACH 5004 C-5B arriving back Dover from Pope,9 crew.

"Unique" Flight Training Mission Takes Off from NCCo Airport Saturday

Five C-130's will fly in formation over four states and several bodies of water, drop a cargo load in southern New Jersey, and return to their New Castle base in the three hour exercise.
By Allan Krakower, 1450 WILM Newsradio
Friday, June 6, 2008
Colonel Jonathan Goff, wing commander of the 166th Airlift Wing of the Delaware Air National Guard, says "It is an example of the peacetime training requirements our military unit must measure up to so we remain prepared to execute a variety of combat or humanitarian relief missions." Thirty airmen- ten pilots, five navigators, five flight engineers, and ten loadmasters- and other personnel will take off from New Castle at 11am Saturday and fly over the First State, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, the Chesapeake Bay, Atlantic Ocean, and Delaware Bay with an expected landing time of 2pm at NCCo. The airdrop is scheduled 15 minutes prior to "wheels down" as the planes fly over Coyle Field in the Jersey Pine Barrens. The Delaware Air Guard last completed a large formation mission five years ago.

Re: Guard Dog CAP 06.06.2008

Hi guys,

Caught the first part of the CAP yesterday afternoon.

1823Z 260.900 SONIC 13 wkg HUNTRESS reporting @ FL250 @ OTT VORTAC in QSY with ZDC.
1825Z 281.400 ZDC-Calvert - SONIC 13 - FL250 QSY ZDC-Brooke 327.000.
1830Z 350.250 PT Guard Dog - SONIC 13 - req. entry into the Guard Dog CAP @ FL250.
1834Z 350.250 PT Guard Dog - SONIC 13 - into the CAP @ FL210-240 block alt.

Beforehand, I was so frustrated with my BCD396T - even after locking out most of my usual VHF banks, the thing is still not picking up xmsns until midpoint! Missed someone at 1813Z on ZDC-Blue Ridge 285.600, someone up with PT APP on 254.250 @ 1821Z, and ????? 45 up with ZDC-Casanova @ 1835Z descending into Andrews on the ELDEE3 arrival.

I did catch WARTHOG 11 @ 1804Z w/PT DEP 348.725 @ 14000' then QSY ZDC-Calvert 281.400, but that was it.

When I get a chance I'm going to revamp my rotation and I'm going to give this thing one last shot. If the problems continue, this thing is out the door!

Off to SJAFB, MCAS Cherry Point, etc. tomorrow!

Best regards,

Tony

For the record...

SONIC 13/14 = F-22A, 27th Fighter Squadron/1st FW Langley AFB VA (In at 1430) (233.525 interflight freq)
SONIC 11/12 (Same) (In at 1855) (262.025 interflight freq)

0952: SPORT flight of four A-10s (MD-ANG) went wheels up from Martin State Airport at 0950 as reported to RAVEN Ops...347.2
0954: SPORT flight working interflight...142.3
This is their transit callsign so they're heading somewhere other than for just local activity.
1005: SPORT 1 flight working w/ZDC-Linden reporting at FL 190, cleared to 200...322.55
1006: SPORT pilot talking about "his office building" in the Reston Town Center...142.3
1007: Another SPORT pilot pointing out his home somewhere in Virginia...giving a sighting out in the country...142.3
1011: SPORT mentions direct Charleston and then "as cleared"...322.55
1022: Last transmissions heard on interflight freq as they fly out of range...142.3

For this morning's Guard Dog CAP, I didn't get a tail number for TANKER 03 but know he's from the 132nd ARS ME-ANG Bangor. TANKER 04 is on the way to the CAP just prior to 1000.
TANKER 04 = KC-135R, 57-2599, 77th ARS AFRC Seymour Johnson
Potomac TRACON is working the tankers on 126.55 this morning rather than the usual 135.525
HARASS 23/24 on the way to the CAP to replace HARASS 21/22...w/ZDC-Bay 379.3 and on interflight freq 360.15...HARASS 21/22 also on 360.15
Appears the 71st Fighter Squadron has CAP duty today in their F-15s.
1008: TANKER 04 clearing into the Guard Dog CAP w/Potomac using the UHF freq...350.25
1008: TANKER 03 getting clearance back to Bangor from Potomac...126.55
1012: HARASS 23/24 checking into Guard Dog w/Potomac as fragged...HARASS 21 setting up clearance back to Langley for once the new fighters get gas...350.25
1022: HARASS 21 flight cleared to Langley and handed off to ZDC-Calvert where they check in direct Harcum...281.4
1030: HARASS 21 flight to IRON Ops (71st FS Ops) to report they're both Code 1...347.1

1025: Heard DENALI 01 call McGuire CP asking them to pass a message to the Elmendorf Command Post that they were airborne at 1417Z...319.4 (I couldn't get a full ID for this aircraft)
1032: CRAB Ops calling CRAB 1...x2, no joy...148.925 (This is a ground to ground transmission)
1040: CRAB 54 (C-130J, 97-1354, 135th AS MD-ANG MTN) airborne...384.1

1056: U/I air-to-air...143.125 (This is not air traffic...it's FM...now sounds like police running tags...very loud and clear once I switched to FM...strange freq for them to be using and I'm hearing both the station and the mobile units) How about someone else trying to hear this and confirming what I'm hearing...please. I've got a 948 mobile unit calling "Central." Been so long since I listened to police comms that I forgot who that might be. (Still hearing them at 1123) After thinking about it, isn't it the NSA Police that calls "Central?"

1056: REACH 364 (C-17A, 99-0058, 62nd AW McChord) on the way into Andrews...requests 100K gas when on the ground...earlier heard mentioning 6 crew and asking for an "engines running stop"...378.1

84-0207...84-0208...84-0210...84-0212...84-0213
The news release said there would be five of them and so that should ID all of them. They're all flying with HUSKY 5X callsigns.
1108: HUSKY 50 to Dover Approach reporting at 5000 feet in non-standard formation but in trail...132.425
They are using their Ops freq 343.0 for interflight. Said Dover requests they squawk altitudes.

It's only 87 here but the humidity is the killer. Another 10 degrees to come before the day is over with. I can't imagine those guys sitting in their cars for 4-5 hours up at Pocono this weekend. You know they're having the same weather. By the way, I noticed last night that even Clint Bowyer has his own plane (N79CB, a Beech 300.) They're all making a ton of money apparently....and deserve it.

Maybe a few degrees cooler up there but not much relief.
Probably lose cars in the haze going down that long backstretch.
That B-52 better fly low to be seen.. :)

Guessing HUSKY 50 flight should come up the coast offshore a bit to Jersey before rtb.

1210 Delaware ANG Chopper reports 7 miles outside Bethany Beach on Chopper Ops 46.90
two of them A/A 242.400,the other is near Georgetown Del.

Thanks very much for the info and the heads up.

By the way do you have any UHF ATC freqs up your way we might need to check on
while Buff is in the area Sunday?
I have the usual Willow Grove area freqs covered but not much North of that area.

I got a report the SPORT flight of four A-10s that departed Martin State at 0950 this morning has landed at Ft. Campbell AAF, Kentucky.

By the way, I saw a news item that Defense Secretary Gates on Monday is heading to Langley, Scott and then Peterson AFBs to talk up solutions to the problems that just caused the Air Force Secretary and AF Chief of Staff to get canned. It looks like Mike Donley is going to get the AF Secretary's job. He's an ex-Army grunt (Special Forces) that has had his nose in the Air Force tent for many years going back to 'Bush 41' days. Want to bet some big AF contracts (tanker, rescue helo, the F-22 wish list, etc) all get delayed?

Re: B-52 flyover
Last I heard, that SCALP 99 landed at Westover a couple of days ago and I've seen no reports he has left there yet. That might just be our flyover bird.

1321: CADE flight of two A-10s from Willow Grove lifting off w/Philly TRACON 291.7 and then to 319.15 as they climb out. Check in at 4000...cleared to 8000
1325: CADE flight handed to TRACON freq 317.55 and check in at 8000 feet.
CADE flight on interflight freq 141.725...one of the pilots chatting about his work at Barksdale. He must be from the 47th FS there and TDY to Willow Grove.
1331: CADE flight handed to ZDC-Kenton and check in there...cleared to 10,000 feet...354.15 (Patuxent bound?)
1337: One of the CADE pilots talking about his (fuel) totalizer does not agree with what he's reading for the left tank and center tank (right is empty)...says they'll have time for BFM and it may be their ticket to going home early...141.725
1338: CADE getting handoff to Patuxent 270.8 and requests to cancel IFR...354.15
1339: Handoff freq changed to 314.0 and CADE checks in with Patuxent there at 10,000 feet for R-4006, Event 20...314.0
1340: CADE handed off to BayWatch freq and check in with the same message there...requesting up to FL 180 for 15 minutes of work....they're cleared below 7k for now and will wait for higher...says originally they were cleared for R-6609 and want to know if R-4006 is free...they'd rather stay up there than go all the way down to 6609...cleared to work from 3500 to 7000 feet for now and will expect higher later...354.8
1352: CADE gets cleared to go up as high as 11,000 feet...354.8
1353: CADE checking out of the range and is handed to ZDC by BayWatch...354.8
1354: CADE checks in with ZDC-Kenton leaving R-4006...354.15
1354: CADE pilot reports the totalizer is now working...the other asks if he wants to have it checked out by mainenance...first says he'll do it on his own...then more chat I couldn't quite hear...141.725
1355: ASCOT 9292 (VC-10/C1K, XC105, 101 Squadron) overhead the area at FL 360...ZDC VHF

1400: The DE-ANG HUSKY C-130H flights are now back at New Castle County Airport and are working with the Tower...126.0
1401: CADE pilot talking about getting a deployment, this will be his first (and that might explain why he's at Willow Grove)...the local pilot is asking if he's going with them or with the Boise guys...says he's going with them - the WG guys...141.725 (So, we've got another A-10 deployment coming up out of Willow Grove it would appear that will include 47 FS Barksdale aircraft.)
1403: CADE flight handed off to Philly TRACON and check in there at 11,000 feet...269.25
1403: U/I Willow Grove A-10 flight checking into Bollen Range w/BALKY...237.2
1406: HUSKY 50 to CB (or is it SEABEE - their Ops callsign?) asks if they've been monitoring what has been going on...says they're holding at ???...343.0
1407: CADE to Ops...says CADE 1, tail 152 is 31590, Code 3 for fuel totalizer...343.0
1409: CADE tells Philly TRACON they're going to Modena and will be canceling there (IFR)...269.25
1410: CADE flight handed to another Philly TRACON freq and check in at 6,000 feet, direct Modena, cancel IFR, dropping to 3,000 feet...319.15
1412: CADE tells wingman they'll be landing runway 33 and will turn downwind...141.725
1414: CADE flight over to yet another Philly TRACON freq...291.7
1415: At this time, TANKER 04 has been on station in Guard Dog CAP for 4 hours, 15 minutes. Wonder where his relief is?
1417: HUSKYs talking interflight about "gear down" on their Ops freq...343.0
1418: FLYER flight of Willow Grove A-10s was the one at Bollen Range and now with Philly TRACON reporting beginning a descent...291.7
1425: There's another Willow Grove A-10 flight working at Bollen Range...no callsign for them yet....237.2

257.800 - KAVP Tower
256.700 - KAVP Approach/Departure

Thats the only two UHF ATC frequencies around this area. I believe KAVP controls all the airspace for the smaller airports in this area. I believe that goes for the area around Pocono Raceway. I'm guessing he would be using UHF ARTCC freqs as well? Or would he be just as likely to use VHF?

That makes sense,SCALP could do flyover then press on home to Barksdale.
Hillary giving her feminist farewell speech.. I'd rather listen to static on radio.. :)

FLYERS A-10's up with Balky on 237.200,coming in strong today.
