Huntress controller

I am sure glad I am not that Huntress controller. Between tankers that have stuck landing gear and trying to figure fuel for the fighters, and with the other stuff going on today from Philly to D.C. He is going to need a good stiff drink once all this is done.
I can hear him on 228.9 today nice treat.

Jack,

he's L/C here in Baltimore as well. Must be using a couple of remote xmitters.

1230- In amongst all the chat heard one of the tankers ask to switch over to 324.6

Have given up trying to keep hand logs of all this----just listening and enjoying it---just a prelude to what we can expect on Tuesday I guess

01/17/09 at 1230 on 255.7, Unidentified aircraft with power problems making a quick turn around to try and come back for a landing. Thought I heard have fire stand by. But I missed the ID. Hopefully some one else heard this. I know this is a common frequency so it could have been any where. I only heard the aircraft side of the comms here in central NJ.

MAZDA 61 flight yet?? Anyone?

Had to be away from the radios and might have missed them. Last I heard they were
inbound Gander quite awhile ago.

Anyone catch them down there in the mid-Atlantic region?? My time to monitor is
running out. Too much to get done today and have to leave the radios soon.

Wow! Activity levels are just unbelievable today! Hopefully, there will be some time later for a recap of all that happened.

The intercepts being conducted on 139.7 with the GUARDIAN units have been interesting since the HUNTRESS [female] ground station is also readable.
The Customs repeater on 165.2375 (late 1300 hour) just had OMAHA 05 reporting departing Wilmington for Martin State Airport. He contacted THOR and RAVEN ops - both of whom were booming in here - as was Charlie 100, the Customs command unit. There was also an OMAHA 06. OMAHA 07 departed MTN just as OMAHA 05 arrived.
OMAHA 05 = N139HS
OMAHA 07 = N541PB

GUARDIAN 1, 2 and 3 are all operating on 139.7 just prior to 1400.

I've got the complete list of all the tankers used today and their tails/units. Fortunately, every one of them displayed the correct callsigns in their transponders. Noticed we missed TANKER 04. That one must have been scheduled for last night and was aborted for some reason. CAP ended last night with TANKER 03 and started on time this morning with TANKER 05 who was in the area around 0530. Anyway...coming later.

I'm just going to be listening......

Guess I should mention NATO 07 (E-3TF, LX-N90450, NATO) overhead the area at FL 300 (heading west) - picked up at 1351 - and...
ASCOT 6746 (C-17A, ZZ172, 99 Squadron) of the RAF who, I believe departed McGuire...got him at 1348
And just for yucks...a B703 from the Togo Government (5V-TGE) - no doubt arriving for the coronation - I mean inauguration.

1434: HUNTRESS notifies ARROW 15 that the Baltimore TFR is now active...228.9
1435: GUARDIAN 2 calling HUNTRESS...260.9 (No joy so ARROW 15 let's HUNTRESS know of the call...HUNTRESS then calls GUARDIAN 2 on 139.7 before switching over to 260.9)
1436: GUARDIAN 2 tells HUNTRESS he's airborne at this time and heading toward Wilmington...260.9
Based on audio, GUARDIAN 2 is a helo but I have nothing on Mode-S lifting off from MTN corresponding to his reported altitudes so I guess he's not running Mode-S. Same from GUARDIAN 1 as he returned to MTN.

1442: HUNTRESS notifies GUARDIAN units that Wilmington is now cold and Baltimore is hot...139.7
1453: GUARDIAN 2 has sight of "bullseye" (the train)...2 taking over, 1 RTB...139.7
GUARDIAN 1 taking 100 gallons of fuel at MTN and will go up again.

E-6N, 164404, VQ-4 off the deck at Patuxent and heading NE...he's running up the coast so is not involved in the other activities in the area.
1500: Here we go with the F-15/KC-135 fuel issues again...228.9

Reg below: Mark, thanks for the railroad freq. I'm hearing it now during the last half of the 1400 hour and it's specific. (160.925)

Helo N325PH...anyone know for sure who this is? His altitudes are matching up with OMAHA 06. FAA records are no help.

Nothing here but I was out earlier as well.
1400 show a NATO 07 LX-N90450 E-3B thru the area at 30k
1414 NATO 07 trying McGuire metro 239.800

For those in Baltimore area try 160.925 for Amtrak disp and conductors.
1410 Amtrak disp (C-TAC)160.925 asking about crowds at Elkton area now.
I saw train on TV,
Two GE P-42 diesel Locos with bunch of Amtrak Galley cars and Amfleet 1's and private car GEORGIA
is VIP car at rear.

Haven't seen it mentioned yet, but I was mobile at the time when I heard the fighters around 1045 switch to 276.55 for interflight.

VSP N32VA Cessna 192 was in the area earlier.
At 1435Z I logged ICE PC-12 N541PB at 9800ft. Just showed up again at 10k.

Ok Mark, thanks for your input. I know you heard two BLUEs head out this morning and there was
a BLUE 93 logged on HF heading towards Gander on one of the lists. Chances are we may have missed them. Maybe Rene will help fill in the blanks.

On another subject - I envy all that you guys are going to be hearing with the inauguration of the
Messiah coming up. It is definitely MilAir Heaven down there!! All I get is transiting flights!!

Signing off to get to the dump before it closes!

anyone that can stream some audio via a private stream for a couple listeners down here in the southern USA we would certainly appreciate it and return the favor in the event we were needed.
Respond by PM.

The Amtrak frequency was actually 160.920.

I went down to monitor close to the action and also take some photos. Early on (around 10:30 AM), a dark colored UH-1 flew SB along the NEC out of Philly very slowly and low. Unfortunately, he was almost directly overhead with the sun behind him, so I could not get an ID. Never heard him on the radio, but I was focusing more on local PD, USSS, and Amtrak comms than aircraft. He could have been National Guard or maybe FBI.

Later on, CBP helo N140HS flew south about 10-15 minutes ahead of the train. He did a lot of circling to check on things as he moved south. Did he make it down to DC? Don't see a mention of this one in the logs.

Probably Aircare-2. What is it squawking, 5202?
What I've noticed is the Aircare birds can be IDed by squawk. N324PH Aircare-3 has been 5203, N330PH Aircare-4 5204 and Aircare1- 5201.
