A couple of days ago I mentioned a new C-130J at Martin State from the 115th AS, CA-ANG using CRAB 67. Yesterday, there was another - CRAB 61 (C-130J, 01-1461) flying in the area. I started wondering if these were CA-ANG birds bringing in their people and extra crews to eventually fly the Martin State 130s out there to California. Remember, BRAC told us four were going to Rhode Island and four to California. Could this be the end of the road for the MD-ANG 135th AS?

2206Z 119.300 PT APP - TORY 843 (UC-35C MCAS Miramar) - checking in @ 8K for Andrews sent back to PT APP 119.850 later on comes back to 119.300 4.5-2.5K ILS rwy 1L app.

Tony, I've noticed on Mode-S they spell that callsign as TORI.

.

Rgr Tin noticed that CRAB 61 also.Logged him down to 1600 feet so must
have been into Martin State.
Could be the beginning of the end for the C-130J's here. :(
But I guess Martin State 175th Wing will get a few of those new Ex-Army program C-27J's instead.

Re: 135th AS/TORY

Hi Tin,

On another list, one of your SBS colleagues posted a hit from 97-1352 (Oct. 26) which seemed to indicate this machine had already joined the 48th AS at LRAFB. At least from a search of my email archives, all the rest are still 135th AS.

Thanks for the Miramar callsign correction. Had it in my list as TORY.

Tony, for 97-1352, I show it used the ARROW (AROW901) callsign this past June 11th but it was only copied using that call by me in this area in the SBS database. Most recently, it was operating in this area again September 18th under the DRAGO 71 flyby callsign. It shows it got as far west as our friend in Kentucky but that's it. I have nothing else for it since that date - nor does anyone else in our database which indicates that if it's flying, it's not doing so on either coast since that's the bulk of the SBS/RB contributors. I'd be interested to hear if any of the RadarBox users show it flying more recently. By the way, with the new RB software, we've got more and more RB users joining the network that was previously restricted to SBS users and that's a very good thing. The more territory we cover, the better. We sure need more people in the middle of the country.

Israel News

Guys,

Got this off the Milcom blog:

Hmm… Israel Calls ALL Ambassadors Home For Special Meeting in Jerusalem

For the first time ever, Israel has called ALL of its ambassadors and consuls home for meetings this week in Jerusalem. The meetings opened Sunday December 27.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman, will host a conference next week (27-31 December) for Israeli Heads of Missions. At the conference, Israel’s ambassadors and consuls general serving throughout the world will discuss broad diplomatic and strategic issues.

This is the first time a conference for all of Israel’s Heads of Missions has been held. The idea is to facilitate direct dialogue with the country’s leaders, mutual updates on major diplomatic issues, and a discussion of action plans to deal with the challenges awaiting the State of Israel in the international arena in the coming year, including the Iranian threat.

Israel recalls all ambassadors. Probably nothing, but I wouldn’t buy real estate in Tehran anytime soon.

Haven't logged that C-130J tail here since May 20th as CRAB 22.
Must be long gone.

Speaking of C-27J Spartans a couple of them have been logged
coming out of Italy where they are built with Lockheed Martin engines.
AE272E #08-27012
AE272F #08-27013 ?
All I have so far on them but maybe by middle of next year or sooner will be paying
visits to our area.

I'm in Pittsburgh visiting family for the day and decided to go spotting at KPIT. Lots of commercial stuff while there, but some military.

PITT 01 FLIGHT (2x C-130H, 78-0808 and 78-0809) - caught them returning...nice break to land
ETHYL 78 (KC-135T, 59-1490) - to KPIT via PITTSBURGH 9 departure > EWC > ZORBO > J-584 > SLT > as filed - I haven't heard it return yet

I also noted C-130Hs 78-0807 and 78-0811 on the AFRC ramp. There were maybe 10 KC-135s on the ANG ramp (I'll count later when I go through my pictures), but I couldn't make out any tails. EDIT: Just heard (0127Z) ETHYL 78 report 20 mins out, A1.

Frequencies (UHF only):
252.100 - SCREAMER OPS
311.000 - STEEL CONTROL
Heard trunking noise in the 406-420 range - no ramp activity in the high VHF. Both installations may have transitioned to a digital trunking system.

Interesting Mark. That 131.825 is also an ACARS freq. I'll see if I can hear anything from here on it. Guess I will if they're high enough when using it air-to-ground.

That was 74-1688. My first of the GMT new year was 69-0001 (C-5A, NY-ANG) that was up as the clock struck midnight GMT.

Will get the new thread started later tonight.

Happy New Year to all the gang.
