This morning around 0900-0930 I heard DRAGO-41/42 on 279.575 preparing for a flyby at Arlington. Then I heard AF-1, SAM-93 and SPAR-10 departing to the west. At 1000 I heard a rumbling that I knew could only be mil planes, so I peaked out the window. It was the DRAGO flight, two B-1Bs leaving the area to the southwest. 317.425>257.875>322.55

I heard DRAGO with ZID early this morning - just a brief check-in.

I heard Drago flight also along with 4 F-16's from Andrews at same time.
Never occured to me they might be B-1's.
Looks like schedule was for RICHARD E OLIVER, COL, USA

Interesting story link on the B-17E "Swamp Ghost"
The Swamp Ghost > The Crew > Richard Oliver

Mark

Read a post in another thread that the B-1s made a stop in MI at the Grayling Range as well.

Logs for today:

ANGEL 92 (BE9L, unid) - orbits
JOSA 279 (C-21A, 84-0095) - 2000 lbs fuel, 2 pax (1 S4)
ANGEL 92 (BE9L, N92x) - orbits
RHINO 92 (C-5A, 70-0457) - ? pax; to KVPS
SAM 6088 (C-40B, unid) - approaches; to KADW
ANGEL 92 (BE9L, N92x) - orbits
MAPLE 81 FLIGHT (4x F-16C, 86-0xxx, 276, 353, 328) - to KSKF

The MAPLES stopped by for an hour or so before departing to KSKF (filed KFFO-TRIVO-CVG-CNG-LIT-GGG-KSKF). Airtac was 138.625 - heard them talking about doing some low-level west of Laughlin on Saturday. I couldn't get the tail number for the lead, but it's the wing jet and has different tail art...however, since they just got new aircraft, there are no current references of it.

Thanks Mark, yes they departed for Whidbey Island, Washington yesterday. Here is a short
soundclip from their flight from Lajes to Andrews: http://www.dutchmil.nl/CE2010/mazda11.wav

What's interesting, is that the controller gives them 254.375 for Boston center.
The one for that sector used to be 299.700, has it changed ???

Guys,

Some of you might already know about this document but I got the reference from Larry Van Horn at Monitoring Times:

if you want to get a copy of all the unclassed brevity codes you can get a copy at
US Multi Service Brevity Codes

I downloaded a copy and it's very informative.

Very informative Ron. I Like "Buster" and "Gate" though don't recall
any use in drills around here.
Finally understand BRAA (heard often in intercept drills) besides obvious female definition.
Bearing,Range,Altitude,Aspect..
And didn't realize "Miller Time" was an actual official callsign..
Very good!
