1030 local- Had a few helos transiting through Monmouth County on 264.2 sounded like they were going to the Jones Beach Air Show. IDs were RED DOG & GOOSE. Also getting Jones Beach air boss comms on 128.25

CH-47s

Guys,

Local Baltimore TV showed bunch of MD NG guys heading off to Ft Bliss for training prior to deploying to Afghanistan. The took off in a couple of CH-47s from Aberdeen Proving Grounds (prob Weide AAF). Did anyone catch them in comms and get their callsign or maybe on their SBS box?

0900 EDT- Looks like a DHS/DEA op is underway. Acft (callsign 800) on 136.275 asked controller (Base-not heard) for info on Team Kilo. The team the acft was originally supposed to work with " pulled the plug" so the acft was looking for some place to operate. Acft 800 advises that they are also on SOG 2 and are standing by

I was under the impression that 136.275 was FBI. Up here in NY/NJ metro area the IDs are in the 500's and 500 base. I've been able to match these guys up with JENA flights landing at Lakehurst NAS. Yesterday, they made a ref to "switch to vhf HOTEL 2" which is a known FBI channel in this area. Maybe its a mixed use air frequency?

You could be right about the FBI--my DHS/DEA was just a guess on my part. In the past I've also had activity on 136.375 & 136.475

If you'd send along any other VHF/UHF FBI freqs I'd gladly put them in my scanner.

1645 local- Had SPADE 91 with ZNY, ID'ed as a single AV-8B off of a USS ship, 20 miles east of Coyle on ATC 282.3 then over to 307.8 going to KNKT (Cherry Point NAS)
1857 local- DIPLOMAT and EFFICIENT on 311.0 (solid signal here in CNJ). On planefinder, (3) E8's off the NJ coast 164388, 164404, no reg on 3rd

1023- WILD flights setting up AR on 288.0
1130- Caught some A/A on 333.3 mentioning "river" and making turns. No ID though.

I have had a few hits on this freq too latley -

333.300 - A/A chatter unknown callsign. Said he was 42 miles from London Ont
Canada. Talking about what nav lites they had on.

Not sure if you heard anything from these posts. I have all those a/a interplane freqs in but never hear too much on them.

Are you sure they were Chinooks and not CH-46 Sea Knights? 3 CH-46s (and 2 VH-3s) showed up at Manhattan-Downtown Heliport/JRB around 1330 on Friday and then departed in the direction of JFK about 10 minutes later. The President is coming to New York on Monday, so it was most likely a practice landing.
