I heard a chief ask Sullivan Dispatch to move comms for a search to the fire "tac" channel. I only see the paging, fire com, and fire ground channels 1-7. I don't see anything labeled as a tac channel. Anyone know what it is?
I agree with this. The "Fireground" channels are, by definition, "Fire-Tac" in the RRDB . The official name or what a department calls the channel may vary but the use is essentially the same. I think I have seen some counties with both Fireground (Fire use only) and Tac (mixed Fire. EMS and general use) channel designations. You have to remember that channel details are submitted by the users of this website, and the description of any channel is determined by the submitter and/or database admins, it may or may not be the actual official name for that particular channel. Tac channels are often used for other than a tactical operation, just as Talk channels are sometimes used tactically. Fire departments are regularly heard on Tac/Comm/Ground channels doing other stuff besides Tac stuff. What the officers of a department call a channel may not be the official name or what is listed in the RR Database.
Why not post here if you have something of value to share about Sullivan County?asic, i sent you a PM, top right of this page.
Which, again, you should've just posted here, so if someone has more information about those guesses would be helpful.just the fcc geo site, and a guess on a low power freq.

It's also good to search stuff like the RRDB when you come across licenses like that, where you'd find out that all four of those frequencies are nationwide interop VTAC channels.the power looks too high for a fire tac.
and it does show inter-op anyway.
