I live in Florence right and I’m broadcasting Sumter co and I’ve had been with no problems. I can pick up Sumter EMS all day long but for five days now nothing does anybody know if they may have encrypted EMS ? that would make no sense because I can still listen to fire. I know they have encrypted law-enforcement long time ago. Could it be on radio reference side could they have upgraded there talk groups and frequencies but radio reference. Just haven’t picked it up yet? I have a sds100 scanner also? Palmetto 800 SDR trunk site is saying unknown, unknown unknown, and I put all the frequencies. And talk groups?

This question would be better suited for your state's discussion forum. I've clicked report and asked if this thread could be moved there

I have a sds100 scanner also?
Are you able to pick up EMS clear on your SDS100? This would rule out a problem with SDRTrunk. An encrypted transmission would be denoted in SDRTrunk by a pink bar with white writing stating ENCRYPTED

Could it be on radio reference side could they have upgraded there talk groups and frequencies but radio reference. Just haven’t picked it up yet?
Keep in mind Radioreference relies on verified user submitted data to stay up to date. If no one makes the submission to confirm it, the RRDB doesn't get updated

and it’s also not giving me a solid orange anymore?
Well this means you've lost the control channel. If you don't suspect a problem with your signal then double check whichever site(s) you monitor on the RRDB to make sure all frequencies in red are programmed into your SDRTrunk playlist

Have you verified all control channels are programmed in?
double check whichever site(s) you monitor on the RRDB to make sure all frequencies in red are programmed into your SDRTrunk playlist
...and on your SDS100's favorites list. Hoping we can get this thread moved to the SC forum to increase the chance of someone else from your area seeing this & commenting

Hey Mr. whiskey, I’ve already reset my computer twice and it’s still idling for Sumter it’s almost like it’s frozen, but I’m monitoring three other channels and they’re moving just fine. I have no idea what’s it’s under event alias tab you have like a new alien comes up and then it just disappears from the screen. It’s like it’s frozen so ye but all the other control channels I got I’m moving just fine and are staying orange. They never go idle.?

I’m thinking now it has something to do with radio reference because radio reference operates the same thing on my sds100 scanner

Again, every frequency in red needs to be programmed into your playlist/favorites list. I would plug in all of these frequencies on your SDS100 via quick search: Press channel key, enter frequency and press channel key again. Repeat the process for each additional frequency below. These are all of the RRDB listed control channels on the Sumter County Simulcast
856.4625, 857.4625, 858.4625, 859.4625
One of these frequencies should display control data in a similar fashion to what I have displayed below. You should see P25 NAC: 1D9 flashing beneath the frequency

If none of these frequencies gives you control data then test the remaining frequencies on the Sumter County Simulcast. If none of the frequencies give you control data and/or voice traffic then perhaps the site closest to you went offline, rare but it happens

I literally haven’t changed anything. All I did was reset my computer and when I went to relaunch sdrtrunk it stopped working. Sumter stopped working, it give me no control channel just idle, but now I noticed since radio reference database is in sds100 it’s not working for my radio also? And I have all the frequencies that radio reference gives you on both. I’m running the stable version for SDR Trunk in the latest version of Sentinel for my SDS radio ?

So you're in Florence County but monitoring the Sumter simulcast site. Depending on where in Florence you're located, that could be challenging without a good antenna system.

It appears the Sumter County Simulcast site has a site in the far eastern narrow stretch of the county between Lee and Clarendon Counties, not far from Mayesville. That's the closest Sumter simulcast transmission location to Florence County, and the one you're most likely to receive. It's possible there's something wrong with that site that's making the site more difficult or impossible for you to monitor. That's pure speculation, there's no way to know that for sure as as a hobbyist, short of going to the site with your scanner and monitoring specific frequencies to test for signal strength.

It's also possible that the control channel changed to a different frequency that you may not have programmed, or not programmed correctly. It's likely that this change could happen and it wouldn't show up in the RR database for some time. The info in the database is crowd-sourced, so if no one reports a change, it doesn't get updated. The details of the site listing in the RR database hasn't been updated since 2017.

You can listen to a live stream of the Sumter County site here on OpenMHz. https://openmhz.com/system/palm800

This proves that the site is operational. I note that EMS dispatch talkgroup is carrying traffic based on recordings on OpenMHz, so the talkgroup isn't encrypted.

If you're still hearing Sumter Fire but not EMS, my speculation is that you're not monitoring the Sumter County site and instead monitoring a different site that you can receive, for example, Lynchburg. It's possible that neighboring sites carry some Sumter County talkgroups (like fire) but not all talkgroups (like EMS). You'll really have to look in detail at your programming to discover the issue. I'm reasonably confident this is a problem in your monitoring arrangement and not a problem with the system itself. Something has changed, most likely on your end, and you'll have to work to narrow down the issue.
