Hey I’m just woudering does anybody know if swain county still uses there analog freqencys or have they gone to viper because I see some are still in use from the license but some are expired and I just wanting to know if they still uses them

Just because a county has VIPER talkgroups listed in the database does not necessarily mean they are used. Every county was assigned a few general talkgroups, but not every county uses them. For instance, you will see in the database that Forsyth County has a block of VIPER talkgroups, but they are rarely utilized since Forsyth County has its own separate system.

The same could be said of my home county(Chatham), except. While LE has gone DE on some TGs', on VIPER. They still list the analog frequencies. Just like Swain County may not even use their VIPER, it is still listed here: Swain County.

Well I can confirm I think either swain or Bryson city fire team still uses the analog frequency I heard them this morning alowng with swain transport so I can confirm aeats one freqency is still in use as of now

The last time I talked to a Swain County Deputy doing a prisoner transfer.

Hey advised me that Swain County was in the process in switching to Viper for communications.

That was some years ago.

I have no idea it they did or not

The main Swain County RR page, says. It was updated 4/13/2025. The VIPER page says 5/30/2026. So, Who knows
