Useful for those developing 996 files w/GPS coordinates:

Ability to do FCC extracts by frequency that contain lat/lon. CSV output of same. I'm thinking that you can figure out what freqs/channels you want to research, then put in the freqs, and get a CSV out with freq, agency name, location, type (FB2/M/etc) and lat/lon.

A feedback forum would be nice to have. If someone completes a deal and all went well they could post info about the seller in the feedback forum. Same if it went bad and it sould not be worked out.

Hi, Lindsay... thanks for making RR.com one of the best radio-related sites out there to begin with. My suggestion is for some additional forums:

Broadcast (TV/Radio) Monitoring (via antenna rather than cable/satellite systems)
Jobs in Communications (for posting openings only... we don't need thousands of resumes clogging up the works, IMHO)

Thanks again...

Database Searches

I'm a frequent user of the database, which is a huge help to me when I'm DX'ing as it contains subaudible tone info which more often than not leads to the ID of the station. What I'd love to see would be the ability to search several states or a region at once, instead of having to input a frequency and then search state by state.

I think that a forum would be just to much to read through all the pages. Why not have the feedback in each public profile.
So when a deal goes good you can go and give the Good/Bad feedback in the view public profile of each user.
I hope you know what I am talking about and sorry Lindsay for my second post on this topic.
Take care

And it would be a good idea to make it a private forum for registered users only.

As far as the trading/selling/buying thing is, this board needs more protection against scammers and bad dealers. That would be extreamly nice to see on this board. More protection!!

That's an even better idea.

Maybe another way to slice the data in the DB for each state / county (parish). Things like Mil Air / Air / Marine. These frequencies are split in the airports and such but a one stop shop of this data would be nice.

Please... Save it for ebay...

How could RR (really) know that a transaction even occurred?

How do you even know when an Ebay transaction really occurs?? It would be better that the current system which is pretty much non exsistent. I see folks who complete transactions reply to the original for sale thread on the item to let everyone know. How do we know these transactions took place?? We don't , we seem to depend on the honor system which seems to work. How much trouble would it be to start a feedback forum? it certainly would not do any harm that I can see.

It was just a suggestion.

The only thing with feedback forums if someone doesn,t like you what is stopping them from listing bad feedback on you. This could open a whole new can of worms.Just my 2 cents

A majority of people are honest. I just purhcased a radio from CODE3. I could have left something negitive about him in the for sale thread but why? I received what I paid him for , it was in good shape as promised so why start a flame war? Most people are honest and a feedback forum would help point out who these people are. We could argue a feedback forum is a waste of time and space but just about everyone posts a follow up after a sale r purchase anyway, why not make it easier to navigate these followups with an actual forum for it?

hello. being able to edit or delete your classified add.

I could list a half dozen reasons this is a very bad idea, not the least of which if you buy something from someone here on RR and then what you receive is something other than what was initially listed for sale, if the seller has the ability to delete any evidence that what you received was not what was listed, what is your recourse?

I think if we could delete and edit our messages it would make it a lot easier and less problems for the moderators.

How about some accountability? This would be sooo easily abused. If you say it, stick by it. If you don't want to stick to something you type in the future, then I would suggest people don't post it.

Funny thing is that everyone focuses on the forums, instead of the real content that brought this site together... the database!
The Database Countries pulldown menu. You have US, Canada, Australia and Mexico. Include Eastern European countries that have legitimate radio systems. Get rid of countries that don't have any listed freqs. Like I wanna go to Haiti so I can submit info to the database or North Korea, Ethiopia. Where the heck is Burkina Faso ??? Kiribati ??? Get rid of them !

Also, Thread Titles. Quickly moderate titles such as 'Newbie here', 'new at this', 'can't program my scanner', 'help', 'which scannner should I buy' etc. If there is specific info in the thread, move it to the appropriate forum.

Have some kind of expiry on threads that get zero replies, say 30 days.

EDIT: How about in our instant notification when one of our posts is Quoted. Something like "You have been Quoted in the thread The One Thing".

Has nothing sticking by by it. People do make mistakes. And just like many other forums you can delete then relist if that is the case,I don,t want to start along thread on this. I am sure Lindsay has enough to do with out getting into these disputes. He asked for ideas I gave him some.I will end what I have to say on this matter now.

There's an option in user config that enables or disables a pop-up box telling you that you have a PM and whether you want it in a new window or current. This is how I have it setup. Can't get more obvious than this.

The database...search for SYS ID's
The main database page, halfway down. You supply the system id and it brings up what's in the database. Isn't that what you're looking for?
