Yes, we have a wiki page on Software Defined Radios here...

Software Defined Radios - The RadioReference Wiki

The rapid growth in this hobby makes it hard to keep up - so that's where you come in.

If you know of any SDRs not on this page, please take a minute to add it (clone one of the links and use it as a model - very easy). Compatible software, remote web pages that use software that interfaces with SDRs somewhere else and reviews are also most welcome, as are any other topics you think are valuable.

Remember, anyone can edit this page - if you need help, simply ask.....TIA....Mike

So what's the verdict, Mike? Are we still calling the CR-1 a SDR?
I'm getting the distinct feeling that Software Defined Radio is being confused with Software Controlled Radio...

Cleaned up some formatting and punctuation, added some links, deleted some dead ones...some of them forked over to Online Receivers, so I cleaned that up a bit too....let me know if I left any broken links....

That is absolutely true, in many cases an SCR is confused with an SDR. For example the older WinRadio WR-1500 and 3500 series are SCR, as is the Icom PCR 1500 / 2500. And yet I have seen web pages calling those radios SDR.

In the case of the CR-1 it is indeed an SDR. It might not have the features hobbyist have come to “expect” in SDR, but it is exactly what the military and commercial users call an SDR and what the original papers published on the subject outlined. The software runs internal to the device, instead of in a computer connected to the device.

Really, I suppose as one of the more outspoken SDR proponents here I should spend some time on the SDR Wiki, I will try to get to it this weekend.

T!

Your ID should already be in the system, especially since you don't have an underscore in your name, since that can cause issues.

As for editing in the wiki, it's pretty simple, really - there's a quick guide to the major commands linked at the bottom of the main wiki page...just float your mouse over 'wiki' in the blue toolbar, and click on 'wiki home'. Go to the bottom and look left...Mike

I've done some cleaning up the links over on the SDR Wiki page the past day or so....same story as ACARS, there were some dead links and obsolete/deprecated information...it's a work in progress...

Edit: Definitely deleting the link http://www.ab9il.net/software-defined-radio/rtl2832-sdr.html RTL-2832 from the Manufacturers section. It's not a vendor or OEM, just some guy summarizing the SDR information we already know...with a link to a copy of hacked SDR software...
