You will seen North Ops, South Ops, East Ops and West Ops on Site 5. This is due to TFS patching the dispatch channel with the Operations group when dispatching trucks that aren't in the station. They do it on the analog system, which is why you see them on the P25 one. If you run Unitrunker, you'll see the call type as "XP".

excalibur according to the document I have...
full integrated system will be ready january 2015
and the analog system will be decommissioned 1 year later, upon request from the board
and agreement with motorola contract with the new system.
So I don't know where this sept 2014 date is coming from, pulled out of thin air

Link to document above
Read page 35, from chief william Blair as it pertains to the tps radio infustructure with Motorola.
dated august 1, 2014

Keep in mind unlike these aren't hard deadlines, if there are bugs in the system it can take months longer than expected or if no bugs things go faster, I don't Toronto is doing a hard switchover like Hamilton, they are migrating so perhaps by January all of the migration will be done, the old system stays powered up just in case of a failure of the new system.

That isn't another year that the Police will be in the clear. It's another year that the other system will be maintained, probably for fall back and the other users on the system that haven't upgraded yet.

says in the conclusion that the old system must remain operational and be maintained for a year.that says to me that they will be using it.we shall see i guess.

Maybe this is alot like the Hamilton system. They switched over and their old system was still live (might still be) but nobody used it

the document states that the new system will be fully operational by jan 2015,so im guessing the transition is going to be a gradual one.im still having difficulty getting the CC from the east tower from my location.very weak.tried different antennas, very sporadic.

I don’t think they will be all switch over Jan 1st they will start the switch win system is ready probably start with the little departments first courts maybe parking the document also states(Migration to the new system will take at least a year) but probably will take longer they are just estimating for the record. We all will know win we start seeing more talk groups with radio id that have p25 data link to them

Every single talkgroup on the existing system has a corresponding talkgroup on the P25 system that is full-time linked. REU did a test of every analog system group to make sure it talked from analog to digital, and digital to analog on both the Centracom Elite consoles and the MCC consoles (they'd test "Testing 11-D11 Analog" then "Testing 11-D11 Digital", then "Elite Console both received" then "MCC Console both received"...and go on to every group, Police, Fire and EMS).

I'm late to the party on this one, but... does this mean that at some point in the not-so-distant future I will be unable to scan Toronto police? Will the average layperson (such as myself) be able to listen to Toronto police at all anymore once the switchover is complete?

Thanks!
