If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Is there a way to set a channel to automatically scan a scan group on a TP9300? I'm more familiar with Motorola radios (MOTOTRBO and Astro 25) which have an option either on the channel or personality to automatically scan the assigned scan list. I can't seem to find a similar function in the Tait software so it's either not there or I'm missing some nuance of the scanning setup. Still fairly new to the Tait world but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. Definitely a departure from CPS 16 and Astro 25 CPS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes create a scan list. You can assign that list a number in the zone. When you change to that channel it initiates the scan
You can also assign a background scan as well which behaves more like a motorola one.
The background scan can be initiated with a function key

Just realized I never replied to this. Thanks for the suggestion. What I ended up doing was create a scan group for each "channel" and have the scan list scan the same 2 channels but transmit on a channel specific to that scan group.

well, that is really what background scan is for
Scan Group: create your members
Scan tab: Scan type background
Scan tab: channel to respond on "default"
Scan tab: selected (this would let you transmit on the selected channel you are on, or you can make this "captured"

I think the reason I didn't do it that way is that I couldn't assign the background scan group to a key and also have a key assigned to toggle In-Zone scan. It would just throw an error when trying to change the scan type to Background. Now if there was a way to force background scan on then that would work. I'm still playing with it to see what I like best.

You can assign a background group to a key
Primary action: scanning toggle
Select zone and group
Background scanning can also cross zones

Correct, but I can't have the background scan list assigned to one key, and toggle In-Zone scan assigned to another. Also there doesn't seem to be a way to have the background scan automatically toggled on. At least not that I can find.

correct on the background vs in zone
you can make it start automatically, go to conventional ui, startup, select the scan group at startup
I think the tait scanning is quirky/odd
I settled oon in zone scans also, seemed to make it cleaner

Thanks, I'll have to give that a shot. I use In-Zone scan for all but one zone. Just couldn't quite figure out how to get it to auto scan, but starting on the scan group looks to be the only way. Definitely takes some getting used to.
