This is almost impossible to interpret; are you asking about software - and for what scanner specifically? - or frequencies, talkgroups or some Utah based system??

Please refine your question - there's lots of folks here who can help.

I have all the frewuencies, talkgroups and ids. What I would like to get is a software program that will allow me to view it on the computer. Kind of like the Bearcat scanners that work with alot of the etrunker software programs. I would like to be able to install it on my laptop so when my scanner relays a message it will come across the screen of what car and id. Is it possible, I have Pro-2053 scanner from radio shack.

Nope, not possible. The PRO2053 (like its handheld cousin the PRO93) can only support up/download of frequencies to/from the computer. That's a firmware limitation.
And as for showing car number and IDs; nothing out there that can do that, unless you get some very expensive software from a professional dealer.....
that's a CAD/CAM type application that's used by police, fire, ambos, ect.

What would be a great scanner but less expensive that does not have the firmware?

What are you trying to accomplish with a computer connection?

Newer scanners give you the ability to associate meaningful descriptions with frequencies and talkgroups called "tags". Unless you have other, more complex requirements, you may find a scanner with tags is easier to use than one monitored by a computer.

The ability to backup and restore the scanner configuration to/from a computer is different.

I have that already in the pro-2053, I would however like to find somewhere I can purchase a computer program that dispays the info on the computer system, not the ability to back up or restore but to watch the info come across my laptop. Just as the diferent agencies have in thier Police cars, Fire trcuks, etc. That is all I am trying to accomplish. I know there is a product that is out there that works with uniden scanners, but I have not been able to find one for the Pro-2053.

There is no software package for the 2053 that will accomplish this task. There are great ones for the BC780XLT and the like where you can set up virtual scanners on a monitor, and things like that. But to get the same type of display on a PC/Laptop, that is used in a dispatch center, youd need a proffessional CAD software package, direct links to the network, links to the tracking nets, and so on, as well as access to any MDS in use, and thats a whole other ballgame.

ka3jjz and milf are posting bad information. Trunker will do exactly what boonez is asking for. His Pro-2053 will work just fine as the data radio. All he has to do is add a discriminator tap, and build or buy a data slicer. This one radio setup will allow him to decode the control channel, and compile frequency, talk group, and individual radio information to be programmed into the scanner. Later he can buy a second radio, from the list of models that trunker can control the frequency of, then he will have the best trunktracking system available for listening live.

He's asking for MDT info - that you cannot accomplish.

boon: You do understand that will only give you detailed info on how the trunked system works, not any of the data available in firetrucks and police car computers?
