Trunktracker IV Programming

Hello all question for you.

Girlfriend lives in Burlington WI and just got a Uniden Trunktracker IV portable scanner. She is looking to monitor Oak Creek PD, Burlington PD/FD, and Racine / Milwaukee County.

I have tried to program the TGID's and Hex of the systems but the scanner isnt hearing anything. Am I doing sometthing wrong? If so, could I maybe get a step by step as to how to program it from scratch and what to exactly enter, for this is confusing to me without doing it via PC.

I suspect the scanner needs the base, offset tables set up for a rebanded motorola system. I'm guessing that you're using a Uniden 396t or xt, if so, you can check out this link for some much better manuals than what Uniden provides: Mark's Scanners

I'd also read up in the radio reference wiki on programming rebanded systems. By far the best way is using software and importing the systems from radio reference. FreeScan is free programming software that will import from the radio ref database. You will need a paid membership to radio reference, though, I think.

Since it is a new scanner, have you updated the firmware for the radio? Are you using a software program to get the frequencies in?
I'm going to presume it is either a 396XT or 996XT.
There is a really great software called FreeScan. It makes programming Unidens quite easy.

file for racine cty

This is a Freescan File for Racine Cty. Yoiu have some analog and then the Trucking system for the state.Some of Racine Cty and Oak Creek are on the trunking system. File is zipped, per RR requirements, get the cable out and load Freescan, then get the computer to recognized the Com Port that Freescan selects. Then you have the file to upload into your scanner, The file is for a 386xt or a 436 trunktracker IV.
