I've had both the TRX-1 and 325P2. My choice? The 325P2, no doubt. I sold the TRX-1 because it choked so easily even on non-simulcast systems. I got tired of watching the TRX-1's screen simply flash in silence while the 325P2 was decoding wonderfully.

I took both to Little Rock and tried them on the simulcast system there. The 325P2 did "OK", not great, but I was getting some transmissions. The TRX-1 was completely paralyzed, however. For two hours I didn't hear one peep out of the TRX-1. Finally I got disgusted, shut it off and put it away.

Boy are you off the mark. Must be off your Uniden pills for the day. I never compared the XTS or APX to any scanner. I am comparing HIS idea of what is "great audio" -- that's it.

Ironically, the only scanner that I can recall that did have good audio was my Realistic PRO-34. The PRO-2006 wasn't bad either -- but those were different times. I think the Uniden 780XLT had good audio but it's been so long ago I can't remember.

Maybe you forgot your own pills, you compared a commercial radio to that of a scanner. "While I agree with most of the Uniden 325 comments this one cracks me up. You obviously have never listened to a real radio to know what "great audio performance" is all about... e.g. XTS5000 or APX". Obviously you are a fan of commercial radios and that's fine, I don't care. There are fourms where you and others can talk about your radios and their greatness, but my question is why are you trolling in a scanner forum?

I've seen this same behavior. What I think it happening is the TRX-1 locks onto a control channel with good signal strength but a lousy decode rate. And with no Analyze function you can't tell. The workaround is to figure out what CC frequency to lock out (delete/etc) so it can lock onto one with a better rate.

Love my bcd325p2.
Hmm, then why are you in the Whistler forum? Inquiring minds want to know...

I find it funny that all of these Uniden fanboys (that don't even own a TRX or Whistler product) end up in this forum..? Do they feel so threatened that they must always defend their scanner purchases?
Hey, "Inquiring mind" the post basically ask's which scanner you prefer. For your information, yes,I am basically a Uniden fan boy, but don't dislike Whistler's. Yes, I own a bare bone's ws-1010. While it's just a mediocre scanner, I prefer the spectrumsweeper, that run's circle's around Uniden's close call. I would eventually like a ws-1040. So kiss my Bass.

I for got the best UNIDEN part and that is it does not suffer from RF OVERLOAD like all WHISTLERS.

LOL! Nice try.

I have owned multiple Whistler and Uniden models. I currently have a 325P2, and in my area it runs circles around the TRX1/1088/1080 on P25 phase 1 systems and NXDN, I don't listen to DMR. The 325P2 is a fantastic receiver with great audio and a nice display. I sold all of my Whistler scanners due to constant missed transmissions, which I believe is due to overload as buddrousa mentioned. I second all the things milcom_chaser referenced above. Also with the 325P2 you have a choice of programming software any of which are far better than Ez-Scan.

I owned the 325P2 for 2 weeks, I found it to be a horror show. The user interface is a disaster on the Uniden, 1970's logic technology for the interface. At least the Whistler is 1980's technology for the interface.

Love my bcd325p2. Minor annoyances are battery life and no lit keypad. No experience with trx-1 .

No backlight is a SHOWSTOPPER for me. I don't even understand how ANY company can design and sell a piece of electronics without a backlit keypad... that's just ridiculous. It's bad enough we are not using touchscreen displays, no backlight is beyond dumb.
