TRX-2 DMR Slot Bug?

I programmed a DMR frequency that I use for amateur simplex into my scanner. I set it up as CC 1 Slot 2 which is how my radios are programmed. I could not receive the transmissions.

I changed the Slot to ANY and could receive the transmissions, but the screen of the TRX-2 shows the slot decoded as slot 1!

I double checked both radios and they are definitely using slot 2 on this frequency. I reported this as a bug.

Can anyone else validate this experience? The frequency was not programmed in as a trunked system but as a conventional frequency.

You have to put in the conventional list, For slot use ANY, for color use ANY set TGID to 0

@Wackyracer as I said in my post, I was able to decode with slot set to ANY. However, transmissions on Slot 2 were being displayed as being in Slot 1.

Response received from Whistler in one day. Good customer service!

Daniel,

In simplex mode, the DSP doesn’t have any way to differentiate between slots 1 and 2, so it calls the first thing it sees “Slot 1”.

I programmed two simplex channels in my DMR radio MD-380, one for slot1 and the other with slot2.
Neither Uniden536 nor Whistler TRX-2 reacted to the signal that was at full strenght. I guess it needs to have a continious carrier like a hotspot outputs.

Do you mean it didn't react to Slot 2 comms, or neither slot 1 or slot 2 comms. On many DMR transceivers I didn't think you could configure simplex comms to be either slot 1 or slot 2: was it not only later releases of firmware on MotoTRBO radios that enabled this feature?

I don't know if the radio names the slot 1 or 2 if it only transmits one slot. Whistlers answer seems logical if a simplex transmission doesn't have any type of identification. If you have a hotspot it usually has a continuos transmission equal to two slots but only have valid info in one slot.

Motorola uses it's Tetra knowledge and copies it's simplex concept to MotoTrbo where one radio functions as a master and sends out a timing signal for everyone to sync to in simplex mode. As long as you have a common sync you can use both timeslots. If a basestation are selected for the master it can receive in one slot and transmit in another and work as a repeater using a single frequency instead of a duplex pair. But then you have spent money on a 2 ch system but can only use one channel. Maybe a solution if a simplex frequency are much cheaper in license than a duplex pair in comparison to the cost of another basestation and you don't need two channels.

You guys are over thinking it, the scanner doesn't care what the slot is, it reports it on a first come first served bases regardless of how the transmitting radio is programmed.
