Just going to add my 2 cents as well. It does work well as 'Spotops' mentioned and if it has the hi-band TV 800 Mhz elements, your 800 signal reception will be good as well. Very directional, so a rotator is necessary if you are going after marginal signals in several different directions. LOCAL signals will be received OK without turning, but for scanner DX'ing, you gave to be able to turn it. Just drill another set of 3/8 inch holes in the boom and boom support members 90 degrees from the factory holes so you can insert the U bolts and place the antenna in a vertical plane. You will need a 300 to 75 ohm matching transformer at the antenna end and the scanner end is completely up to you. Most scanners have an input network that will accomodate cable impedances from 50 to 75 ohms, so if you are using RG59U (75 ohm) all you need at the scanner end is an F connector and an adaptor to get from F to whatever your scanner connector is. All those are available at Radio Shack. Let us know how it "turns" out ( pun intended...) LOL
