DPS Bryan is P25 now. I was starting to wonder why DPS was abnormally quiet...

It appears the Glen Rose repeater (dispatched from Waco) is digital now.
159.2175 unkown NAC or channel number.
The old one was Ch 18 (159.210 PL 146.2) so it might be 18B now.

Does this mean that Waco is digital now as well?

Due to equipment issues and some interference issues, the digital switch over for the remainder of the DPS has been put on hold until these issues can be resolved. I do not have a date when we will continue the switch over.

What does Sulphur Springs use 155.5125 NAC 162 for? It sounds like a repeater link but I'm not aware of any other repeaters other than Paris & Greenville.

Criminal Law Enforcement units, such as Auto Theft, Narcotics, Violent offenders, etc....If you don't hear normal highway patrol traffic (i.e. 9XXX units, units with the letter A, B, or C in their callsign, no dispatcher), you can assume that the repeater is not used by highway patrol. You should hear some encryption quite regularly as well. You might want to listen to confirm this, then submit the channel to the DPS page on the database so you get the credit for the find.:)

Also, I went through Waco the other day, and all their base stations/repeaters are in P25 digital mode now. Database has been updated.

I have not heard this freq yet. I'll put it in and see what I get.

I am about 20 miles from Sulphur Springs and 30 miles from Greenville. Could this be used as a repeater input or control freq?

That's what I'm thinking however I don't know of any other repeaters being used down there other than the two previously mentioned.

Did you ever hear anything on 155.5125 / NAC 162?

I'm thinking that they must have replaced the 159.210 RPT at Paris with this frequency. I just got back from a camping trip in SE OK and got full bars on this frequency like I used to on 159.210, plus I haven't heard them on 159.210 since last year. The input may be 154.9425. I bet they were probably causing interference somewhere to the South. My DPS RPT map also indicates they are on digital "20" which is not the standard 159.210/159.2175 set-up.

Try plugging that in and see what comes up.

apco25-digital?

just got new motorola mcs2000 narrowband vhf non digital radio installed in highway dept trucks. Texas law, vtac, texas fire, and several tex dot channels. Cannot read actual frequencies just labels. Local dps uses digital to talk to abilene and analog to talk to brownwood SO. Their radio's are backwards compatable. So I guess digital is not required here yet because none of the local fire dept or law enforcement have that capability.

Have you gotten a current map of the repeaters? The last one I had obtained was dated 2/23/07. Maybe its time to get a new one, LOL.

Yes, that's the last one I have, too. I sure would like to see an updated one.

Should be getting one by monday. Was told that several stations were having trouble with interference and skip, so they took over several CLE channels and converted them to THP use. That makes Texas City, Paris, and Decatur so far. Any others we know of yet? It seems like they are making the changes on a case by case basis.

Looks like 159.210 at Paris has been replaced by 155.5125. I was up there today and watched a DPS traffic stop. That's what they were using. I am not sure about the input freq.

I'm thinking the input may be 154.9425. I heard a brief transmission on this the other day but not long enough to confirm. Last time I drive down I30 in that area in the fall I kept getting bleedover from something close to 154.950 but didn't have all the DPS frequencies programmed in at the time.

DPS Texas City has been on 155.5125, NAC 162 for about a year now. They also refer to it as "Channel 20." They made that jump after moving from 159.2175 to 159.21 to alleviate an interference issue with Friendswood VFD on 159.225. My guess is, they were getting clobbered by DPS Houston on 159.21 (fun fact: DPS Houston and TX City had been sharing 159.21 prior to the digital switch since time untold.)

Do you know what the input frequency is? It's probably the same as the one in Sulphur Springs and I'd like to check it .
