Acutally, Icom's IDAS system is a dual channel system carrying 2 6.25 KHz channels in the bandwith of a single 12.5 KHz channel. And you can run in single 6.25 mode. It is a trunking format, too.
Kenwood's NexEdge NXDN is comparable. So it's not right to say that OpenSky is the only trunking
system with 6.25 KHz equivalence. It is NOT. There at LEAST two competitors available today.
I think that the bad publicity around OpenSky has ensured that it will not be marketed to new
customers by Harris. Heck, as I hear it, M/A-Com hasn't pushed it lately, either, and probably never
would have.
