• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

You may have seen my other post regarding my new TYT TH-8600 and using RT Systems to program it. That's a separate conversation and I appreciate everyone's replies.

This conversation has to do with TYT's programming software they package with their radios. I've had no issues programming about 25 simplex channels and the NOAA weather channels. Good!

The issue I'm having is programming my local UHF repeaters. The OEM software doesn't seems to have enough input fields to program the tones, etc. And, in order to program tones, I have to select DTMS, 2Tone, or 5Tone. Where is there no CTCSS or PL option? Here are some of the repeaters I'm looking to program into channels 100+.

Frequency Offset Tone Up / Down Location County Call Use Operational status
442.0000 +5 MHz 82.5 Clinton, Holly Mountain Airpark Van Buren N5YU OPEN ON-AIR
442.0500 +5 MHz 110.9 Fayetteville Washington WC5AR OPEN ON-AIR
442.1250 +5 MHz 118.8 Lamar, Red Oak Rd Johnson KE5SQC OPEN Unknown status
442.1750 +5 MHz 82.5 White Hall Jefferson KJ5PE OPEN ON-AIR
442.2000 +5 MHz 97.4 / 97.4 Springdale, Beaver Lake Point 12 Benton N5KWL OPEN ON-AIR

I'm not familiar with the TYT OEM software, but in most other CPS apps the CTCSS settings (access codes) are usually not in the same area with DTMF, 2-tone or 5-tone options (signaling codes). Try to look in other areas of the application and be aware that the chinese often label functions differently than you might expect.

After reviewing the user manual, it appears as though TYT might label CTCSS/PL as CTC. If you can't find how to set the tone in the software, you can always set it on the radio directly for each memory channel (after you load the frequencies and other parameters).
