Thanks Ubbe and UPMan.
I confirm that the most of frequencies I'm trying to decode is single frequency DMR.

The typical scenario is I'm scanning in quick scan mode and scanner stops:
- on a frequency, for example F1, and shows:
- DMR
- Time slot, for example S1
- a color code, for example 8

Sometimes I get a little decoded voice after which S1 and S2 start alternating and I can't hear any voice.
I hold on channel and saved the frequency in One Freq DMR system.
Is this the correct way to proceed?

I confess I'm a bit confused because I'm not so expert with these systems and Uniden scanners.
I beg Your pardon if I post banal questions.

Anyway, I'll soon post the log of a single frequency scanning to make the analysis easier.
Thanks a lot.

There are several systems in the file that get scanned, at least three different color codes. The one I looked at had the exact same parameters and types as the DT3 system I scan but did not have any channel number for the control channel to return to. I interpredted this as a DT3 system.

Try and scan a frequency range only set to analog decode and note any frequencies that have a constant DMR data transmission. That will be the control channel for a TierIII system. Continue to scan and note any frequencies that send out short burst of DMR data. That will be a Cap+ system or a single frequency system. If you get a long DMR data transmission lasting as long as a conversation it probably is a voice channel for a TierIII system if it ends and then never sends any data bursts until next conversation. If you get data burst with 1-2 sec intervals after the end of that conversation it is probably a channel in a Cap+ system. Longer intervals between bursts could indicate a one frequency system.

Thanks Ubbe, sorry if I din't reply before.
I'm not yet ready to analyze digital systems by software. I would like to learn how to listen to different digital systems using only the scanner, as necessary in case of emergency.

I had a long and "difficult" mail exchange with Avera Distrubuting, the final response I received is this:
--------
Please follow our advise and program this frequency as trunk DMR one frequency in the scanner.
When S1 and S2 blink it means both slots are in use.
To listen to slot 1 or slot 2 you must program the frequency as a trunk
Then enter the talkgroups or * for wildcard and per talkgroup you can then set the slot you want to
This will not work when you use conventional mode to listen to DMR.
-------------
Before this message I've already tried that way: I created a one frequency DMR system with a single site with only one freq and a department with 2 channels (one with a lot 1 and one with slot 2). But the system scanning never stops.
I don't know how set talk group on these channels using my scanner.
Every suggestion will be appreciated.

Avera have published your question and answer in full on the Servicedocs Page:

QUESTION
November 30 -2017
I'm an Italian user of UBCD3600XLT scanner, but I cannot decode the DMR signals
of dozens of listening stations.
The scanner displays correctly frequency, slot and talk group but does
not decode the audio of the transmissions I listen to.
This morning I installed the latest version of the firmware (1.02.00) but the problem
persists. I also tried to work on threshold and waiting time but without results.
Can You give me any information and deepen the problem please?
In addition I report what I noticed.
2 different scenarios:
1) Classic DMR - Display shows fixed DMR and Slot info on display
alternates quickly between 1 and 2 with no audio
2) (DMR or CAP) Display alternate CAP and ENC together with Slot1 and
Slot2
Is the problem the simultaneous transmission heard on the same
frequency with different slots?
Is it possible to force a slot to make the scanner decode correctly?

ANSWER:
If you program talk groups in a DMR trunk system you can set per talk group the slot
and force a specific timeslot: Any or 1 or 2 If the scanner displays ENC the DMR
channel is encrypted and is not possible to decode so that is the reason of no audio.

Ah, so the transmission is encrypted. That explains entirely why you aren't hearing it.

They also posted a pathetic answer to another question:

QUESTION:
20171129 / November 29 - 2017
Finally i managed to get DMR frequencies in the UBCD3600XLT.
When I receive a station I read in display the ColorCode (CC) and Timeslot (TS)
The scanner should also be able to display the TalkGroup (TG)
How to configurate the scanner to see the TG in the display ?

ANSWER
Probably what you received is not a trunk DMR system.
Only when receiving trunk DMR system a TalkGroup is used and displayed.

******************************************************************************
The TG is only displayed when receiving a TRUNKED DMR system...

Yea right.. and this is our technical support in Europe :-(

Hi,
just to be clearer, as specified in my mails to Avera, the aim was not to work on encoded systems.
I exposed 2 different scenarios.
I'm interested in DMR (conventional and trunk) clear communications.
To be fair, not will share the entire email thread in which someone has told me to read the manual before write and that they not a support line for end user.

Anyway, I will speak to you with the utmost humility: I know I've very much to learn and I'm used to read manuals before to buy my radios but I think that the 3600's manual is quite smoky. It could be good for someone that can download a frequency database and loop through stored channels.
I'm interested in channel discovery by scanning and I'm ready to act to organize frequencies and settings but I need some help. Here is quite difficult to find an expert scanner operator; scanning is not a widespread practice.

Sorry for the long post but I trust in You and I thank You all so much for Your commitment and Your availability.

What annoys me Tony is the level of support for the 3600, the dealers don't want to know, Uniden USA deny responsibility, Avera listen but have no technical expertise, the manual is a starter manual with no great depth to it.. So we are down to self help groups and in Europe we have the problem of no common language.. Lets hope some of us gain more knowledge on the scanner and are able to pass it on - at the moment I am only scraping the surface..

My upgrade wish is the case of the 3600 with the Whistler TRX1 inside it...

Update from Uniden USA

Hi all,
You know what was the Avera reply to my answers.

Last night I received a reply to a ticket opened by me, on Nov 22, 2017, on Uniden USA support line.
I report their answer:
----------
Good afternoon, Tony

We apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately we are the american support and don’t have any documentation on this particular model. We aren’t sure who the appropriate support team for Europe is, but we would recommend contacting Australian support. You can find more information about our various contact regions here:

Locations

Thank you for Choosing Uniden!
----------
Make Your considerations.

Returning to my tests, Avera advised me to set talkgroup to * (wildcard). I tried but it seems TGID can only be set to a number.does anyone know how to insert * in TGID?
Thanks guys!

Ignore my question please. Avera make me notice the answer is on the manual at page 34. I miss that.
Sorry!!!

At least Avera are taking responsibility for the 3600, but it is a pity Uniden USA are denying knowledge of the 3600 and Avera..

For those that do not know - or have not noticed..

Makes me wonder just how different the 436HP and the 3600XLT are (or aren't). I'm assuming frequency coverage is the major difference, but is that it?

So, answer from Uniden US of A:

"We apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately we are the american support and don’t have any documentation on this particular model. We aren’t sure who the appropriate support team for Europe is, but we would recommend contacting Australian support. You can find more information about our various contact regions here:"

What a drivel ?? they don't know insides and outs of that model. It is a BCD436HP with different Band plan and DMR installed, Uniden really think that we are bunch of semi retarded and illiterate bunch of dudes just like to spend money on their products. C'mon Uniden you need to do better than that, MUCH better in fact.
ps UBCD3600XLT is not even sold outside EU, not is Australia or New Zealand. Suggestion to contact support in these Countries adding insult to injury. Are you guys for real or some jokers?

ps Upman when you actually Man Up and step in to help and do something. It is a Uniden product and its time someone take responsibility for proper support not only with outstanding issues but also with parts replacement within US and outside US.

Sorry gentleman this is my morning rant to Uniden, time for my Prozac now.
Have a good day

...... It is a Uniden product and its time someone take responsibility for proper support not only with outstanding issues but also with parts replacement within US and outside US.....

My guess is that Avera (www.avera.eu) contracted Uniden to manufacture the 3600 for them, but nobody would buy an expensive scanner called an Avera 3600 so it has the Uniden name on, but in reality it is marketed and supported (sigh) by Avera - who have to go through Uniden with customers technical problems, but due to aggrements customers are prevented from contacting Uniden directly...
This would be fine if Avera were an up and coming communications company, but they are are a bloody marketing company. Check their web site....

I expect Upman is prevented by Uniden from commenting..

Whistler must be having a good laugh over this..

Mike, you could be right who knows the relationship arrangement outside of USA. Second possibility is that Uniden is imported to EU and marketed by Avera. On end of the day it is Uniden name on the box and they need to put proper systems procedures in place to support it one way or another. They also make and market scanners under Albrecht brand, someone must support this brand as well.
Surely when they decided to market 3600 in EU support issue has been addressed.

Appalling after sales support. Yes I am using Unidens because it suit my Band plan. As soon as I can get Whistler here with open Band plan, All Uniden's will end up on the scrap heap. Still waiting for new AOR and ICom to come with the goods.

Might be fun to pick up a UBCD436PT or UBCD3600XLT for the sake of having one with uninterrupted coverage and owning a scanner you can bring with you when your travels take you overseas...

This was also one of my preferences, i carry my UBCD396XT everywhere on overseas trips. Due to wide Band plan it was handy just in case. But on my last trip to Europe it was nearly deaf in Poland, many services move to DMR. Now I need replace one of the scanners with DMR capabilities, Uniden 126 will have to go first. Waiting after new year what AOR and Icom will come out with otherwise it have to be 3600
or TRX1 with UK band plan.
ps 436PT version is loaded with Australian Emergency Services stuff, and I dont think you can upgrade to DMR via Uniden USA ??
