I have a 996P2 and have started loading in UIDs with their alias (as TGID Text) to the scanner using ProScan for several P25 1-Freq Trunk channels and noticed that although the UID Alias text displays on the scanner itself, it is no longer logged into the UID logging / recorder. It's almost like if the scanner decodes the UID, it doesn't pass that UID number to ProScan.

I love ProScan and the 996P2 for the ability to show the UID Alias (I can see if from across the room) but if I miss a call, I can't go back to the UID logging to see who it was. If I remove the UIDs (TGIDs) from the System and update the scanner, ProScan will log the data again, but then I need to look into the log every time to see who it was (these are 6 digits Astro UIDs).

Am I missing a setting that so that this can be logged and displayed on the scanner?

Thanks

Do you have record on in that tab?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, they can be logged, but ONLY in they aren't already setup within the scanner itself.
Those logged entries will show on the scanner display with only the UID number (not the text alias).

Once I copy them to the System and upload them to the scanner, they will then display the alias text but no longer log the entries in ProScan.

Off hand, I don't believe the BCD996P2 has the capability to output the UID # in the protocol if a UID is programmed. You can verify by going to the Options General tab then check the checkbox 'Scanner Data To "Scanner Data.txt" file' View the Scanner Data.txt file (located in the ProScan folder) with a text editor.

The BCDx36HP and SDSx00 scanners do output both the UID # and text tag as shown in dave3825 screenshot.

Thank you. From turning on the logging I captured the following:

#Here is a UID that was not programmed into the Scanner.
# I can see the scanner has sent "UID:i838617"

START
MDL,BCD996P2
STS,011000, ¬ ,,P25 ,,UID:i838617 ,,1 ,,S0:1234*****0 ,,GRP---------- ,,1,0,0,0,0,0,3,CYAN,3
GLG,1,NFM,0,0,Londonderry PD,P25,Digital,1,0,NONE,NONE,NONE
VOL,6
SQL,7
PWR,309,01558650

#Here is a UID that was programmed in.
# I can see it sent just the text "Londonderry PD H" with no UID number.

START
MDL,BCD996P2
STS,011000, ¬ ,,P25 ,,Londonderry PD H,,1 ,,S0:1234*****0 ,,GRP---------- ,,1,0,0,0,0,0,5,CYAN,3
GLG,1,NFM,0,0,Londonderry PD,P25,Digital,1,0,NONE,NONE,293
VOL,6
SQL,7
PWR,386,01558650

I guess it's time to upgrade to the SDS200. Thanks for confirming this.
