• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I hate to say I have not had the muffled audio problem, because I don't want to jinx mine. :)

However, I also haven't "pulled the battery", and my battery was already installed when I received mine. Is there by chance any correlation between removing the battery and the audio problem? Just wondering if it's a physical problem due to something being pushed up close to the speaker, or pressing on the speaker, that's worse due to heating or battery placement.

Back to lurking.
I too have been using my G4 for about 4 months now and not had the audio problem. I use it 24 hrs a day most of the time. Just lucky I guess.

Dave I got in my car and turned on the G5 just now. Muffled low audio from the start. Went to do a battery pull and still had the unit on. As I started loosening the two screws in the back the audio corrected and the muffling went away. Don't know if this helps or not.

Ever since I backed off the screws a little bit I have NOT had the audio problem. Been listening non stop since, unit off, unit on, changing systems, different volume levels...again, don't know if this is coincedential.

Signal-Zero, I had this very same issue this week and also shared this with Dave right away.

My Audio went low, I loosened the screws and the audio came right back. I also then removed the cover and made sure it was seated right, then installed it again. I did not experience the issue since then, although I do not monitor all the time.

I have had My Unication G-5 For 2 Months and yes it smokes the P-25 Scanners and works very well with a Simulcast system I use mine with my counties Simulcast system and it hears things my P-25 Scanner does not. Just My .02 Cents well worth the price but I Traded in some G-1's and a Minitor v and got a great Deal that I could not Pass up. Remember it's a Professional Pager.

Well I jinxed myself...turned it on today and low muffled audio. Powering the unit on and off and the three button reset did not work. Again pulled the battery and audio is fixed.
