Well I got my "Like New" 396 yesterday. I had some stuff preprogramed ahead of time so when it arrived I programmed it and was pleasantly surprised by a couple things.

#1: it seems MUCH more sensitive than my 2096, in fact, it recieves Hamilton Co EDACS extremely well. When I went for a drive I found it still picked up Hamilton Co all the way down in Shelbyville and as far East as Ind 3 in Rushville. I picked up Seymour ISP in Shelbyville and Indy etro all the way out in Lewisville (50 + miles from Indy). BTW, I used a RS800Mhz duck on it. I liked it so much I went and bought another 800Mhz antenna just for this radio.

#2: Many thought I wouldn't like the "warbbley voices" on the Indiana SAFET system, however I found that outside the house or set up properly in the truck I rearely get the warbble, which leads me to believe most of that issue is two things:
1: poor reception, antenna/scanner location
2: poor alignment of some radios.
I am assuming this particular unit was "returned" due to this very issue and may have been realigned as it does very well. I found that when it does do the warbbley voices changing the units locations helps greatly. If that doesn't do it your unit may need alignment.

You can get them cheaper than that on other websites. I'd still encourage emailing presales@uniden.com and asking them if they will still honor the code for you. The worst that will happen is they say no.

I just emailed them about the coupon so I will let everyone know what they say.

Well Fedex finally showed up today about 10 minutes before I was to leave work this afternoon. I spent all day programming frequencies into ARC396 so I'd be ready to go once it arrived. I definitely have to get used to digital stuff, it sounds a bit different than the 'old stuff'. I don't know how I got along without a signal strength meter all of this time, what a useful feature. (I'm used to the meters on my ham rigs, but none of my scanners have ever had one till now!) I've programmed all the ARTCC frequencies that I could find into the scanner along with several airports in the area, so that has already provided me with some nifty monitoring this evening. So far I like it, just need to spend more time with it and read the manual a bit more. Congrats to anyone else who got in on this deal!!

maybe people should start buying more of the gre scanners
maybe that will get their attention and then keep the coupon open longer.

1: Ummm, it only ran for a WEEK not the month of October
2: Why would I want something with more bugs than Mexican Resturaunt ? (meaning the new GRE and all it's issues)

tried emailing the address that Uniden supplied in an email about an order that wasn't confirmed and they never did respond

I recieved the same e-mail about a unconfirmed order from kira,and she is not replying to my e-mails about purchasing a BCT15 with the discount.I did get to order the BCD396T a week earlier with the full 25% discount,I don't know if I am over my quota purchasing radios with that coupon or what.I gave up on contacting her and bought a BR330T today instead

I just tried it & I got:
