So i just got my Uniden Bearcat 996XT and i used freeSCAN to program it, Downloaded my counties and uploaded to the scanner, I see my county and the fire dispatch i want to hear, But for some reason i only get static, Not constant, Seems only when someone is talking, Every once in a blue moon i get a perfectly clear transmission but it then cuts out before they are done talking, Am i missing a setting? Did i forget something?

It sounds like you are not getting enough signal but it could be several things and I am just guessing. It would be easier to help you if you provide a link to the system you are trying to monitor.

A feed involves connecting scanner to a computer and providing the communication audio to the internet and I don't think that is what you're talking about.

Instead of using the vhf, signals I would think you would want to listen to the trunked system. There are two of them though and I'm not sure which one is being used. This one would be my first guess: Charlotte / Mecklenburg County (Motorola) Trunking System, Charlotte, North Carolina - Scanner Frequencies

This kind of question would be best answered in your local forum. Look farther down the list of forums and you will find one for NC.
