Henderson police appears to be in the clear... Not encrypted... The 436 could be iffy... It's a simulcast system...

If I was the OP, I would ask if anybody is using a 436 around his area with good results...
The SDS's are not a problem...

Unless the OP can get it with like a 30 day return window... So it can be tested to see how it works...

Sold my 436 as it could not properly handle my neighboring county’s new P25P2 simulcast system and didn’t want to play musical chairs by moving the scanner around or play with the antenna to copy properly . My QTH from one of the TT was only 5 miles . Best tools for the simulcast systems are SDR scanners or Unication pagers .

The SDS100 and 200 work fine in simulcast area's... Just ask Kaitlyn above... She's buried in it in the Tuscon area...

SNACC is running LSM for modulation. I haven't seen any scanners in the less-than-$1k range that have a choice beween C4FM, CQPSK and LSM modulation types, but it DOES make a difference. My Whistler TRX-2's handle all the different types and I suspect the Uniden newer scanners do, also. That 436 is pretty old tech, and no one has updated the firmware in the scanner. (Even if it CAN be)l

my best success with my 436 on the Clark County system is to scan a few of my closest sites and not use the simulcast. For example, I live in Henderson and monitor the Black Mountain site specifically. It does struggle with simulcast. When I want to monitor the system simulcast I use my Unication G4.

Will a Uniden BCD436HP scanner work in Las Vegas / Henderson for police and fire?

YES. I just bought one and the shop programmed it for me using something called Sentinal (??IIRC) and included local emergency services, a few casinos, Henderson airport, etc. I got mine at GIGAPARTS in LV. I am not well versed on the technology of such things but the shop did the programming and I am just learning the nuances of the scanner. They programmed in all the non-encrypted Southern Nevada Area Communications Council (SNACC) channels. I was told LV Metro PD is scrambled so not receivable on the scanner.

I recommend a leather case for the BCD436HP as it seems fairly fragile. I also added higher performance ENELOOP rechargeable batteries.

Im using a BCD436HP in Las Vegas and can tell you it works just fine.

As others have said, Boulder City PD, North Las Vegas PD, and Metro PD are now encrypted. All other PDs are in the clear for now. DOJ wants all law enforcement nationwide encrypted as soon as possible.

Confirm firmware version 1.26.00 is loaded in the radio to fix the simulcast issue mentioned by others. Since this update, Ive had no trouble monitoring simulcast sites in Clark County.
