Your poll is invalid... you're placing the fault with Uniden where it doesn't belong. The poll should say,

  • "Would you make the same mistake I did by sending your scanner to Uniden in nothing more than a padded envelope?"
  • Or....
  • "Would you know it was a bad idea to start with?"
Why would I make such a ridiculous poll when I want to know who would continue to be loyal to Uniden if they failed to repair thier a unit, kept their money and voided their warranty because of something customer allegedly did which is drop the unit prior to shipping, you are obviously not familiar with my case.

So you put up a poll but get upset when it doesn't turn out the way you expected. You asked for people's opinions and they gave them to you. Actions have consequences and not always the ones you want.
No I get upset when it gets hi-jacked like it did, wouldn’t you? Your telling me actions have consequences? I’m almost 60 years old I know actions have consequences, you needn’t tell me that, this isn’t my first rodeo you know.

I don’t know if I would get upset or not. I do know I would expect people to disagree with me and explain why they did.

And I’m over 60 if that matters.

You sent a scanner back to Uniden for repair in a padded envelope and are mad that it's damaged and Uniden won't fix it for you? I've shipped scanners back to Uniden, Regency, RELM, and others over the years and never used anything but a box and some sort of packing material. I think that's the norm.

If you think that FedEx broke it, your claim is with them.

You're acting like you're 60 months old. Get a grip. You're making a complete fool of yourself.

How can you possibly expect anyone to take you and your ancient nicotine-stained scanner seriously?

He's the OP.
It was his idea.
How can he possibly be wrong?

All the things he mentioned that he forgot to do, didn't do, the "stress," etc. and it's not his fault?

For the record, I'm 78.

So if we play you at 45 or 33, your voice deepens?
So to all my friends that I have not reacted to in recent posts, it's because I stopped following this thread. What's the point?.

And you've stopped following the thread, but you're here...???

Here and there
Even if something was to go into a small claims court on this typically a judge looks at what the most reasonable thing majority would do or reasonable actions majority would take.

Doesn't mean it isn't possible but for the cost of fees and filing and deliberation one would spend more money on the court process itself than the fee uniden wants to repair the added issues. If a attorney is hired then the amount goes higher. If lost then other end could file for fees they had to spend on court.

Just one of them moments to take a hit pay the repair and next time send it in a box with packing material. I mean does uniden have a policy on how big a box can be? Could make a Chinese puzzle box within box each having padded material but not sure how how tech in repair would feel on a bad day 🤣.

This packing dilemma just reminds me of that "if I only had a brain" music video from 80s where a packing box seen a interesting journey.
