I got a uniden scanner don't have it right now it's an older 800 MHz in storage the problem is it don't pick up anything but static I looked at the inside and nothing is burned out all the connections for the antenna are ok it won't pick up nothing not even weather channels any ideas what could be wrong ????

i know it would be helpful for a model number !!!

I'll look for it and post it back

OK I found it heres what it is Uniden Bearcat BC 855XLT

hope someone can help me out I'm out of ideas

Be more specific - exactly what is it you're trying to scan? Many areas have now moved to digital platforms. Can you, for example, hear your local National Weather Service freq (usually between 162.4 and 162.55 Mhz)? 73s Mike

Nope nothing but static on the weather bands

I should add it used to work on the 800 mHz band along with all the older scanners I had BUT not this one

It could be a variety of things... A little moisture got into some critical circuits, a varible resistor changed a bit, who knows. In the end it's nothing that can be fixed without taking a voltmeter to the circuit board.

Were you close to a transmitter? Maybe you blew the protection diode.
