i wanna start with these first
I love your rack! I'm kicking around the idea of buying just one so I don't mind looking into the specs.

Ok, lets start with the vonets wifi bridge - because the specs on the SDS200 say
"Ethernet connectivity for remote streaming and control*"
I'm not seeing much use for the device.

What about using the 16 port Ethernet switch you are asking about and hook it direct to each SDS200 using Ethernet cables - they are cheap and easy to get.

Does not look like PoE (power over Ethernet) is needed so any switch should work. About the only other thing to consider is if you want managed or un-managed. I have a small 5 port managed Netgear switch that is bullet proof. Don't think you can go wrong with the Netgear switches.

The managed offers more control while the un-managed may be a bit easier to setup and are also lower cost.

One last thing - speed: if the switch will only be used for the SDS200s then the lower cost 1G speed should work just fine.

Hope this helps

So yes, if you don't need wireless connectivity just the switch is all you need (plus associated cables). Like @buddrousa said the Netgear unmanaged is a good choice. Be advised the switch may generate noise in the VHF band which will be transmitted via the cable to the scanner. I had that issue and shielded CAT6 cables resolved it for me.

And your setup looks very nice and professional!

will the wireless from computer to hub work for programing as stated above thats what iam trying to do so i can program from computer to scanners without pulling cords and unplugging and plugging in all the time so i guess
all scanners to hub switch with cat 6 cable then wirless device up above to hub and the usb end to computer and then setup each port of hub with a separate handler number ?

You are not interested in the switch it will be passive you are only interested in the 16 SDS200 IP ADDRESSES.
Example
192.168.1.201 192.168.1.202 192.168.1.203 you get the idea.

It's for wireless connectivity. Several members here, including myself, use it.

can i connect these all with hub to my computer and program each on separatly with any software ?
It does get complicated and confusing. I think the missing piece is the router, it will assign the IP address to each device connected to the switch. Proscan software running on your computer will connect to the router by Ethernet or WiFi . Internet to the router should not be required provided the router is set as DHCP server, usually default. One thing to note is the IP addresses may change when rebooting. I can see this getting very confusing with so many devices with the same name. You could pull up the IP at the device or make note of the MAC and label each scanner. Most routers allow reserving the IP so it will stay the same, should be in the advanced settings. As far as other software working you would need to check and see if it supports network connections and not just USB/serial connections. Hope this helps

Perhaps a much simpler way to do this that would be good enough would be to plug in the short programming cable that came with each scanner and leave it with the big end out where you can access it. Then when you want to update or program just use a USB extension cable so you can use the computer from a convenient spot near the rack.

Why would you need a router? Assign an IP in each radio via the menu. Or am I missing something?

As happens a lot on RR, some people just make things a lot harder than they need to be.

ok so what your saying is the sds200 has a way in the menu to set its own ip address if this is the case the port would NOT need to be set right ?
