You should see big letter "E" for emergency calls, small letter "e" for encryption and big "D" for digital.
I'm seeing "Dig" for in-the-clear P25 voice on a Smartzone system (7829). I don't believe I have observed encrypted P25 voice yet, nor have I seen an emergency call with this latest version. I'm logging now and will send them your way!

Check your list of channels. Are the alternate control channels for the active site marked as such? In the case of Motorola, make sure you don't have LCNs duplicated across two or more sites.

Tried it now on a different computer (no previous UT install) with Beta 18 and only copying over the GID and RID files and I get the same results (no tan bcc's). This is a P25, version 7.2. Intially only tried decoding one site, then when that didn't look right, I went to other sites on the same system (no freq reuse) and got the same results (no tan bcc's).

Beta 16 is showing tan bcc's.

Thanks LD. As fate would have it, I tripped over a bug introduced with beta 17. This is specific to P25. If you wipe your channel list (HZ file) clean and build the channel data from scratch - the alternate channels appear as normal voice channels - until the system actually begins using the alternate control channels in turn. A control channel message that denoted those channels as alternates was being suppressed. The next bug-fix release will restore this behavior.

Rick;

Couple of bugs here:

1. Still got the "backspace 9 times to edit" problem when attempting to enter a group or radio ID for finding.

2. The "Park" function for voice following appears not to be working. I've tried it on both a BCD396T and PSR500, muting and with a park frequency. Nothing works; the radio remains on the last active frequency and subjects me to whatever inane blather is on that channel presently.

And a couple of requests:

1. Is is possible to do away with the "Listen" tag on talkgroups and just go solely priority-based? Seems like a major pain to have to change both the priority level and the listen tag, when one would think the priority level would be all that's needed.

2. Possible to supress voice tracking of encrypted talkgroups?

Otherwise it seems to be working fairly well on a Mac under both Parallels and VMWare Fusion.

You can choose to Listen by priority, by the listen flag, or both. Check your [L]isten options.

Basic listen options are ...

Code:
Scan for (1) Listen = [Yes/Ignore] (2) Priority < [1..99] or (3) Ignore [Yes/No] Lockout = [No/ignore].
Set field #1 above to "Ignore". Set field #2 to your listening priority threshold and make sure field #3 is set to "No".

You can also suppress the effect of the Lockout flag by setting Lockout to "ignore".

That's broken at the moment.

Got it working right, but now a feature request....

How about the program periodically creating an automatic backup of the Group and Radio ID files while running?

I just lost my entire RID file due to a program crash caused by unknown forces; fortunately I had a manual backup made yesterday, but lost the changes I had added today while the program was running.

After major edits, you can manually save. Select ave from the main menu.

To periodically save, look under [O]ptions for Autosave. Set it to "On".

I've noticed on the latest release of unitrunker when monitoring an EDACS system that nothing is showing up in the CT column. Anyone else notice this or is it just the system I'm monitoring.

After reading all the posts I seen that I'm not the only one not seeing anything in the CT column while monitoring an EDACS system. It does show Ana during an I-Call but nothing during normal transmissions.

I'll try to drop a fix this weekend. Late Friday at the earliest.

Had that running; it didn't help. The program wiped out my entire RID file when it crashed. Thank heaven for the manual backup; my RID file has several hundred confirmed IDs.

What I think would be an excellent feature is for Save and Autosave to save the working files but also create backup files called (for example) moto712d.RID.bak and moto712d.GID.bak or something along those lines. That way a crash will hopefully leave the backup alone.

Oddly enough, turning auto-save off might have saved you. If the program dies or Windows reboots or the box powers down while a save is in progress - you'll lose data. A manual save after the edits would have worked. If you remember, we've hashed out this issue before.

Renaming the data files just before saving works once. With auto-save, you're saving every 15 minutes. So 15 minutes later ... what to do with the backup copy? Keep it or replace it with the new backup? If you've lost data but don't know it ... 15 minutes later your backup is gone.

The good news is the new program uses a versioned data file. You can, in theory, roll back to a version from an hour, a day, or a week ago. Don't like the results of the roll-back? You can undo it.

Hello,

I am having a problem installing the latest beta on a Asus Eee PC running Windows XP. Windows XP is installed on the D: Drive as the C: Drive is a small drive used for BIOS updates. There is 2GB of RAM and plenty of disk space.

At first I got a Error 2203 near the end of the install and the install rolled back. I tried an earlier beta version and got an Insert Disk message without any indication of the disk to insert. Now when I try to install the latest beta I also get the Insert Disk message.

Sounds like one F'd up system you have there. The MSI installer is very basic. There are no files installed in strange places. You could unpack the files from an MSI and copy them to a directory and run UT.

Make sure the .MSI that you downloaded isn't corrupt - download it again. Turn off Antivirus/Firewall things that might conflict with your installing the MSI. Then try.

Make sure you've got SP2 installed on that XP machine, since the latest version of MSI would be included with it and may be needed for optimum results.

Also - if you want exactly what is installed in the folder when one installs the current MSI, I can provide you with a zip archive of it. I'd just provide the link here, but I'm sure there is a reason why Rick uses the MSI instead of a zip - he likely doesn't want to deal with support issues with people butchering what would otherwise be a very simple install via an unzip of contents.

Eric,

I PM'd you a link to download the Feb 27 2008 version of UT, which was installed by myself and then the contents of the directory zipped up.

This link may offer some insight into the error. I've never encountered this problem myself.
