So I'm new to SDR. I've purchased two RTL dongles and can listen to analog and digital p25 audio fine. I'm trying to listen to a Motorola NXDN96 system now.

I've tuned to the trunk control channel, DSDPlus detects everything however Unitrunker doesn't never pop anything up?

What I'm trying to do is tune one RTL dongle to the control channel and then the other RTL Dongle to hop around on the different voice channels.

I've tried Unitrunker plugins on SDR, etc. Just stuck and not sure where my problem lies.

See attached screenshot of what I'm talking about. (As a test, I piped the audio from SDR into a virtual audio channel that DSD is reading but not Unitrunker)

I've also tried this walkthrough here with no luck:
P25 Trunked Tracking and Decoding with Unitrunker and DSDPlus | Jeffrey Kopcak, MBA

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi jbandy;

Unitrunker does not decode NXDN or DMR. It has a detector to tell you the buzz you hear is one of these - but it does not decode the content of these channels.

You're best bet is to try DSD or DSD+.

So how do you go about following voice channels on a dual usb dongle with dsdplus? I understand how to setup the watch the control channel, but how do you setup the second dongle to follow the voice?

I don't know how much of the NXDN protocol is understood by DSD+.

All I can suggest is set up something like FMP to scan the voice channels with one of your RTL sticks.

I use sdr# and the AUX VFO plugin then run a dsd+ for each VFO. I run 5 of them in total for the Christian Co Feed I supply. The downfall is sometimes you will have 3-4 conversations going on at the same time and it can be a little overwhelming. I only use one usb dongle as I'm lucky that the tower that I monitor all of it's freq's are within the bandwidth of the dongle.

Here is a video of it working.

PS hope you are studying!! :)

By now there is no decoder to follow trunk conversation on NXDN system. DSDPlus will include this feature in future releases.
