UniTrunker Issue

It appears that I have thing setup right.
I have the Control Channel setup for NJSP.
Using SDR# when I "Set" the Aux VFO plugin to the Control and
I set my Primary VFO to the Control, SDR# will follow to
the correct channel and also update the data in Unitrunker.
( ie. Source ID, Audience, etc)
But Unitrunker will NOT update any of that info unless I manually
click on the Control Channel in my primary VFO and it seems to
lock on the last channel used.
In other words, once I'm set on the Control Channel and a call is made,
SDR# will follow the trunk to the right channel, but it will not return to the
Control Channel to receive the data. I have to do it manually.

Not sure if I'm missing something.

Also I should have mentioned I am using a
generic SDR dongle. It says RTL-SDR.com on the
device. DVB-T + DAB + FM + SDR

Set up two VCOs. One for the voice channel - another for the control channel.

For a much better experience, purchase a second RTL stick.

There's a plug in to add additiona VCO (VFOs) to SDRsharp.

You could also configure your Realtek stick(s) to be controlled directly by Unitrunker.

I know I should be using 2 dongles, but I did
follow the instructions very closely on how to Trunk
using 1 dongle. I feel like I have everything right, but
I must have missed one little step or setting along
the way. If anybody has a clue, I would love to hear it.
If screenshots would help please let me know. I'll get shots
of all the settings in all the progs.

In the meantime, I did order a 2nd dongle. Should be here
on the 14th

Just curious, can you post the link to the NJSP site you are using? I use one dongle without sdrsharp. In my case, the freqs on my sites do not span more than 2.5MHz. How far do yours span?

I actually used the NJSP listing right here on RR Database.
There really aren't that many channels so I can just send you a list
of the freqs and the Control Channels

If you are using Unitrunker set the "ID" (column 2) to B106

You'll be able to receive only 3 voice channels without a second dongle. You'll miss a lot. If you buy $9.99 820T2 I recommend, you won't be out much.

I am unclear on the benefit of running through SDR#, especially for the control channel. I suppose it allows you to get a better picture of what is going on. But I would use UniTrunker only, instead. Perhaps anchor tuning would be the only potentially benefit of routing through SDR#... I haven't explored that option.

What are you wanting to do? Casually listen? Stream? Log?

Mostly Casual listening. I live about 200 yards from the I-295 / 42 split
which has been a traffic and accident nightmare for many years. It's now
under complete redevelopment and causing even more traffic issues.

If you look at my OP, I've used 2 setups.
1 is the whole SDR# setup and once a call is received on the control
channel the voice follows but stays there. It stops following the trunk.

2 is the Unitrunker setup. It works, but again not completely. I get all of the
data on the control channel but with this setup I get NO voice at all.

I don't regularly use UniTrunker + SDR#, but, I assume, with one dongle only, UniTrunker has no way to know that the voice transmission is over when you use method #1. It has to decode the control channel to know what to do. But it has no way of knowing when to go back to the control channel if it is listening only to the voice channel. A second receiver is necessary.

For the UniTrunker method. Could you post pictures of your VCO tabs? Ensure that analog voice is selected on the voice VCO tab.
