Rick has mentioned that Unitrunker is ultimately designed to run in this format. Having larger fields, etc., are supposedly being held for the "T4Win" type upgrade coming later.

The beta 1 screen seemed to have more space. IMO, beta 2's display is a step downward.

I've been fooling around with the full screen vs. window settings along with the font sizes. Evidently the font in full screen cannot be altered.

Frequency Table

I finally got Unitracker to work on my XP (changed the decode speed). My question is how do I put in the freq table for Mot II Fleetnet?

I have the base, spacing and offset but when adding a band there is only space for the spacing and the base freq. I understand that once these are put in that the frequencies they use will start to show?

Great program and thanks for taking the time to work on it.

Place the offset in the "LCN Min" field. Pick another higher offset (bigger than the highest channel to use that base/offset) to put into the "Max" field.

Thanks. If I have more than one plan I just add those the same way? How do I delete an incorrect one?

I just entered a plan and saved it but it doesn't appear. Does it need a restart?

Yes.

Use Find -> Bandplan to locate the bandplan entry. You can locate a bandplan entry by entering a channel number matched by the plan entry.

Example - assume the following band plan entry exists for a Motorola UHF system:

Min LCN=380 Max LCN=540 Base=406.100 Spacing=12.5 khz

Entering an LCN of 400 (or anything between the min/max values above) in the Find Bandplan panel would retrieve the above

While the entry is displayed for editing - select the Delete option.

I just entered a plan and saved it but it doesn't appear. Does it need a restart?
Not necessarily - existing channels that display as 0.000 Mhz might not be updated until the next re-start. New channels discovered will immediately acquire the mapped frequency.

For those interested in seeing UniTrunker monitor an ESK enabled EDACS system cruise over to this thread in the Texas forum for a couple of screenshots.

Two points on this feature:

1. It is automatic - no need to guess at the correct ESK value.
2. This was supposed to work in the second public beta but didn't. Now that I've had a chance to (finally) test this out, the next release will include working ESK.

I've spent some more time fooling around with beta 2. The biggest problem for me is that the Calling Party field is too short. It is shorter than it was in beta 1, and some of my RID labels cannot be any shorter and still be meaningful. Even with the shortest label for a police or fire mobile unit, the last digit is cut off on practically every one. Even the original Trunker had space left over.

Please put back the wider fields. Thanks.

I can combine the LCN and frequency columns - that will regain some space.

Hey Rick,
Your making us drool here with the concept of another Unitrunker beta soon. It's looking good with those screenshots. Any general idea when the next beta that will run on both Win98 and WinXP machines will be out? Or if it is too much trouble to get the newer versions running on 98, let us know, and I will get another XP box to replace my Win98 unitrunker box.

Win 98/ME shouldn't be a problem - it's just a matter of testing.

Whats the latest on the slicer issue under XP? I understand its been disabled until....

id LOVE To run unitrunker, but till slicer support works, im stuck either dragging an ancient computer with an extremely outdated OS or using ancient DOS trunker in a window on my XP machine.

neither option sounds really appealing..

It's there - but it is may sometimes cause BSOD. Try it out - it might work for you (or not). It is for 2K/XP only.

Something to consider: your computer will actually run faster and smoother with a sound input vs. a slicer. With audio samples - the computer is interrupted perhaps a dozen times a second to service the transfers of data to memory. With a slicer, the CPU is interrupted 1600 to 3000 timer per second (on average - depending upon signal format).

ok i found where to enable LogicAnalyzer.sys and succesfully started the service. When started, unitrunker removes access to the com ports in the configuration menu. When the service is stopped, it gives them back, but get nothing out of the proper port.

Now i can use the old dos trunker, as well as "slicer" and verify the port is working correctly.

what am i missing here??

Hi,
I've been testing UniTrunker against a local MPT1327 system I mapped and can follow using TrunkSnort.
Trouble is I get many more channels listed (33) than effectively in use to the best of my knowledge (5).

Strange thing I noticed: when listed in hex they almost look like a repetition, where the first digit makes the difference:
0 100 300
2 102 302
3 103 303
4 104 304
6 106 306
7 107 307
8 108 308
9 109 309
A 10A 30A
C 10C 30C
FD 1FD 3FD

Is anybody able to give me a clue?

tks

Question for the development team:

Some trunked systems are popping up with C4FM control channels. Can this mode be decoded well via soundcard? If so, are there any plans to add C4FM to UniTrunker?

It's already there. Beta 1 actually works beta than beta 2 in this respect. I broke C4FM without realizing it. It will be fixed for beta 3.

The MPT1327 decoder is very experimental. If you think you can discern which channels are correct, I'll see if I accomodate that in the code. I just don't have any live MPT1327 systems within 200 miles.

The documentation is wrong in the following respect: don't start the NT service before running UniTrunker. The program will start/stop the service for you.

got it working via sound card for now..

Rick, any way to get it to log the affiliations like the dos trunker? Would like to be able to search via a radio ID and see all the talkgroups affiliated with during the logging period.

Also is there a way to use the systems channel number instead of the LCN? ive tried editing the LCN to use our channel numbers, but unitrunker just fills it back in and creates a dupe frequency
