Unless there is a size disparity, I have to agree with the others.

Mind me asking what it is attached to?

Wow I did not know i would get this kind of reply. Thanks for the replies guys, it is attached to ( what i think ) is a UHF antenna 535 FT in the air, with some really really thick cable from 1980's. the picture what you see on my first post was indeed the connector off of it, im looking to convert this down to PL-259 or mini UHF. The antenna looks like 10-12 oval looking lopps 6 on each side of the pole in different directions., i am not sure if it is directional or not. Will be taking a picture when i get back up in a few days.

That antenna is likely a multi element dipole. If the individual elements (the oval loops you mentioned) are facing in 4 different directions, then it is not directional. If the antenna and coaxial cable feeding it is in good shape, then it should work really well. Here is an example of what a one would look like with the elements all pointing the same direction, which would give it a directional pattern: Sinclair Technologies Online Product Catalog - SD318-HF3P4LDF(D00)

Adapters to go from N to PL-259 are readily available for a few bucks each. Be -really- careful about using adapters with the mini-UHF connectors as they tend to damage the connector on the radio really easy. If you need to do mini-UHF, get a adapter CABLE, which would have a female N on one end and the mini-UHF on the other. This takes the stress mostly off the radio connector and will save you a lot of headache. Trust me on this one, this is cheap insurance at half the price.
