Date: 6-12-08
Time: 4:55 A.M.
Location: Highway 40 at milepost 200- Grand County.

Troopers on the scene have indicated that a white 2006 Volvo conventional truck tractor pulling a white Heil tanker trailer was traveling westbound on Highway 40. The driver failed to negotiate a left hand curve and went off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail. The vehicle continued while out of control and rolled 1/2 time onto its top and came to its final rest partially on the roadway.
The restrained driver has been identified as Kevin L. Spriggs, 44 of Denver, CO. Spriggs sustained moderate to serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Grand Medical Center of Granby, CO. Spriggs was then later airlifted and transported to St. Anthony Central of Denver, CO.

Highway 40 remains closed, and at this time it is still unknown when the highway will reopen. Officials on the scene have not determined at this time if any fuel has spilled into the Colorado River. A clean-up corporation has been notified and is responding to the scene for the clean up process and investigators anticipate that this will be a lengthy clean-up process.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
