Variable channel level attenuation would be a very helpful gift from the radio gods
As a menu driven setting, like the menu selected volume / audio gain adjustment, would benefit all radio junkies
Especially with all the radio saturation and noise floor levels these days
Radio junkies would be blessed

On the other hand it would be super simple to add to the now used passive 3 resistors 20dB net with a 10dB and a 6dB setting that are selectable per channel.

A variable attenuater are more complicated to implement and might also add intermod and noise.

That's a feature I'd like to see as well. Perhaps a finite number of per-channel configurable attenuation steps would be relatively easy to implement. With SDR technology, it's certainly possible. I've never liked the one-size-fits-all approach in use now.

Yes that would be very nice instead of having a useless attenuator that just destroys even the strongest of signals that you want to hear.

Yep
This is the reason there has to be a better selective attentuation way. That is one option that sits idle on my radios. I tried to soften a nearby xmitr with the attenuator setting but it totally kills the signal to the point where i can not hear this important repeater. I bet many users do not use the current built in 20db att setting

6db of attenuation is doable, instead of a flat 20db rate. Anything should be better than the current setup
