What are people using to display log data other than using a text viewer (i.e. notepad) and wading through miles of data.
NOTE: Ideally for Windows.

One of the logs created by the SDR# Frequency Scanner plug-in, shows hits for a frequency which is OK to determine activity on a frequency but I'm looking for sometime to determine when this activity is occurring during the course of day (00:00-23:59) at a glance.

Two ways I've come across which look like ways in which I'd like to see the data represented are:
  • Scatter plot in a spreadsheet
  • Heatmap (image)

Spreadsheets seem limited and tend to create gaps in the plot and are fiddly to create.
The heatmaps also create gaps in the plot and are generally massive images and work using only using sampled power levels.

Here is a rough program I created showing how I think I'd like to see it.
I used a log created by the SDR# Frequency Scanner plug-in for this example. (logs frequency and time and duration among other things)

I thought I'd ask the question to see if a program exists for this task before I invest more time in this program (shown above) just in case I'm reinventing the wheel here.

I thought people logged everything. What do they do with all this information?
Was kind of hoping to hear about the different ways people condense and display all this raw data.

I don't mind making a program, I think I enjoy that more than listening sometimes.:geek:

.
I usually just use notepad++ and key words while scrolling through countless lines of IMBE/AMBE frames ;)

Kinda off topic, but i use Everything.exe by VoidTools. It is an indexing software that can not only sort through millions of files very quickly, but it can search the contents of each file for specific keywords. When i am discovering new talkgroups, I use it to search through months of logs just for the TGID of interest. Great for pulling audio files from archive without trunking recorder, and sorting / searching logs.

Oh, and also. If you use SDRTrunk, the Call Events and Control Channel Events logs import PERFECTLY to Microsoft Excel. Big help!!
