Volusia County has announced plans to encrypt its new Phase Two radio system. This follows months of speculation over whether they’d follow the growing trend seen across Florida—often referred to as the “Constitutional State.”

Residents will soon have the ability to open carry firearms, but will lose the ability to listen to their local fire department. Residents have won a constitutional right while losing a constitutional right - access to public broadcasts by public officials.

Some “Constitutional” state.

Florida seems to be especially "bad" when it comes to encryption, but it's a nationwide trend. However, as has been mentioned in numerous other threads on encryption, there is no constitutional right to listen to public safety communications

Please post what constitutional right provides for eavesdropping on public safety radio systems. I'd like the specific statute or case law. Asking for a friend. I get it, your upset because your source of infotainment is going away, but what part of the bill of rights, or case law, applies here?
