Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey guys, I am trying to program the side programmable key on the bottom (second button under the PTT) so that I I can then select the A and B buttons to switch groups/zone up and down.

Basically I am trying to make it so that there are two steps to switch groups/zones. I've had the side buttons set for group up and group down but I notice that one of the buttons sometimes gets hit and switches groups. I am trying to prevent this. Now I have seen another radio that was programmed so that the bottom side button needed to be held down for about two seconds and then you were able to switch groups by selecting the A and B buttons on the front of the radio.

Does anyone know how to program this function? Radio has the latest firmware and using latest CPS.

Yeah, I'm not sure. I'm not near that radio so I can't read it in CPS to see how it's programmed.

When you hold the side bottom button down for about 2 seconds you see a little "F" in the top right hand corner of the LCD pop up, then you can click "A and "B" on the keypad to change group up and down.
