Glad I cancelled that other G5 I was ordering, might sell the sds200 however everything at the coast is still clear so may just move them down there. Explains why my radios are so quiet.
On another note I just noticed I'm not hearing Durham police, just fire and ems, I guess they also went silent.

Now RPD LE Ops 5, twice, tonight?
Some radios may not have encryption tech (backup radios) or the channel is partial encrypted. Like sometimes when Dispatch (“Raleigh”) is talking on a partial encrypted channel (lowercase e), you can hear them, but not LE. It depends on the channel/how it’s encrypted and who/what is talking.

Dispatch transmissions sometimes don’t get encrypted since it may be important and usually don’t release info unless on an actual full encrypted (uppercase E) channel.

What’s funny is if you listen to 47174, that’s DCI (Division of Criminal Info) channel for LE depts using Raleigh for dispatch, but isn’t encrypted. You can literally hear LE reading out VINs, serial numbers, etc. and Raleigh broadcasts it back on that channel.

Wake Forest is a secondary PSAP. I believe there are only three Primary PSAP's in Wake County; RWECC, Holly Springs, and Cary. Other agencies like Wake Forest, Apex, and Fuquay are secondary PSAPs. Secondary PSAPs can't receive 911 cellular calls, and don't get any funding from the NC 911 Board.

Holly Springs PD is still in the clear at this time.

There are differences in how much each agency charges to initiate and transfer calls, so that's also part of the decision how agencies choose who they want to use for their services. There was a study in about 2016 where Cary/Apex/Morrisville did a study on RWECC. The results were not the best so that's when the CAM group was born.
Whats a secdertory.psaps stand for

NCSU PD receives 911s out of their PSAP on campus then transfer to Raleigh as well. So theyre like half primary half secondary

PSAPs (Public Safety Answering Points) AKA 911 call centers are considered primary if they answer the phone when you call 911. Secondary PSAPs dont answer 911 calls, but are given info from primary PSAPs before dispatching units.

I am planning on being down in Raleigh again this year for the hamfest. I am reading up on this forum about how fire talkgroups are assigned. Trying to setup my Unication G4 to my preference.

The advice you got on the Tarheel Scanner group io page is about the best you'll get. There is no better info available.
