WAKE LE EAST is down as of yesterday and looks like it is getting encryption, so they are using their ops channel for dispatch.

Knightdale Ops and Rolesville Ops are also getting encryption, Zebulon has been encrypted for a while now.

Looks like all of the police departments on Raleigh-Wake is getting encrypted following RPD.

Garner may be next and would be the last police department if they were getting encryption.

Wendell, Wake Forest, and Garner still are in the clear. Knightdale went E on Monday, Rolesville on Tuesday. RPD dispatch and Citywide remain clear, but Tac channels (for the most part) are E.

Ah, I thought they were trying to encrypt LE East dispatch, hence being on LE East ops (47221 keeps coming up).

I noticed Raleigh Police has encrypted District Ops and LE Ops now. And saw the other day that LE East departments are also doing it with their ops/tac channels.

The reason I mentioned Garner is because they use Raleigh-Wake for comms and there's one dispatcher between LE East and Garner also, and with the push for encryption, I thought Garner would be next--who knows.

I know that Wendell has their own comms along with using Raleigh. And Wake Forest is on the system, but they have a police dept comms center, I don't think they are a PSAP though so calls get routed to Raleigh-Wake. What's funny is that I think Rolesville should be on Wake Forest comms because of how close they are compared to the other LE East departments, but that's just me.

Wake Forest is a secondary PSAP. I believe there are only three Primary PSAP's in Wake County; RWECC, Holly Springs, and Cary. Other agencies like Wake Forest, Apex, and Fuquay are secondary PSAPs. Secondary PSAPs can't receive 911 cellular calls, and don't get any funding from the NC 911 Board.

Holly Springs PD is still in the clear at this time.

There are differences in how much each agency charges to initiate and transfer calls, so that's also part of the decision how agencies choose who they want to use for their services. There was a study in about 2016 where Cary/Apex/Morrisville did a study on RWECC. The results were not the best so that's when the CAM group was born.

Okay so as of Friday officially:
- Wake LE East Dispatch is encrypted (so they are not using 47221 to dispatch and are back on 47220)
- Knightdale, Rolesville, and Wendell Ops channels are encrypted

I thought all RPD dispatch was encrypted? I heard RPD's North District Disp(47052) just a few minutes ago.

Folks: Please read over past posts. The 6 Raleigh PD Dispatch TGs (RPD NWD/SWD Dispatch, RPD NOD/NED Dispatch, RPD SED/DTD Dispatch) are all in the clear at this time. Car to car channels have encryption capability.

If you’re referring to Raleigh-Wake, they dispatch these 7 police depts:
- Raleigh (NW 1xx/SW 6xx, N 2xx/NE 3xx, DT 5xx/SE 4xx districts)
- Eastern Law (Knightdale 13xx, Wendell 11xx, Zebulon 9xx, Rolesville 15xx)
- Garner (8xx)
- CCBI (ID-x)

The only encryption I have heard recently are:
RPD: District Tacs 1 and 2, Spec Ops, LE Ops
Eastern Law: LE Disp, All department ops
Garner: Investigations

Those who want more info:
Raleigh unit numbers have ABCD in their unit number referring to their squad

LE East: Unit numbers ending in xx10, xx20, xx30, etc… are supervisors of that squad
